| Apex Techie II  |  Re: Shinigami Mech    I worked on the lower legs today. Doesn't look like it, but there was a lot of detail work done today. it seemed like i was just spinning my wheels. I thought that the lower legs were going to look to big but i think it turned out dead on. feet then guns!! (then glue, bondo, sand,sand,sand,prime,sand,paint.....OMG!!!) | |

| Apex Techie II | Re: Shinigami Mech I am messing around with a "black on black" camo pattern at work. I took a 4x4 piece of drywall and sprayed it with black acrylic enamel. Waited for it to dry. Taped it off then put a coat of a blue that was almost black. Then repeated with one that was red but almost black. What I got was a design that when you first glanced at it was all black. But after a minute everyone said holy crap is that camo? I started with the paint black then added tint until the color started to show. With 9 blue 120's inside this should look pretty cool. Perfect for a night infiltrator mech don’t ya think? | |

I actually did do a few drawings of what i wanted to do. it was to look more humanoid but i just couldn't for the life of me put a head on a military vehicle. so it morphed as i went to what you see now. the weapons placement is pretty much the same though. i would have to say about 90 percent of it is on the fly. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Apex Techie II | Re: Shinigami Mech  Mounting the ankle to the top foot plate   I't was slow at work so I started to bondo the screw holes on the legs. I also started to prime the top. My Dad stopped by so I had to put it all back together to show him. anyway, this is how it looks so far.  | |

| Apex Techie II | Re: Shinigami Mech  first mask.  second mask.  third mask.  Finished removing masks. blue looks weird under flash, but it is actually dark blue.  Upper leg completed It takes between 4 and 5 hours per leg piece.  Before and after on lower leg  Remember my daughters plastic baseballs? they make awesome gun turrets!! Times-a-tickin!! Ten days left. I got a good feeling now that i got my camo down.....  took me a couple of days to come up with the final camo print though. I think I went through 5 designs before i finally made the choice. | |

| Apex Techie II | Re: Shinigami Mech Feels like i got a ton done today. two leg pieces painted, one missile bay door filled,sanded and painted. 1 back missile compartment fan door completed (I already installed this one. I'll show the next one). Entire main body has gotten final bondo coat, sanded, primed and initial black coat for camo. I also installed magnets for rear power supply door. man do those things grab. I figure two magnets takes about 8-12 pounds of pressure to pull apart. I have four for the missile bay doors, you really gotta tug to get those off. Any way I have a few pics of one of the completed missile bays doors (gotta fab missile tips but close enough).   | |

| Apex Techie II | Re: Shinigami Mech O.K. Like i said no sleep till Brookland!! Anyway I just made the last rear missile bay exhaust.  I measured out the opening and cut a starting hole with a hole saw.  after you cut it with the jig saw I recommend using a speed square to draw new lines to dremel straight.  This is my mesh for the fan. I stole it from my wife's case.  fits fine  installed and painted. I apologize if i go to fast. I just assume everyone learns like me. I took pics with fash and without. with- bright blue. without- more normal.     without flash is almost perfect....whaddaya mean thats a floor grill? back fan grills disappeared too!! i'll clearcoat next. | |
