Hi all. I finally got a chance to get some pictures of the case I am working on and more importantly to do some modding. The case started as an Apevia X-QPack that I got from a friend. He had painted it and cut up the front a bit so I figured I might as well hack it up. I had some pictures of what the case looked like when I got it but I seem to have misplaced them. You all know what an X-QPack looks like thought so You can use your imaginations

I wanted to add some much needed airflow to the case so the first thing I did was cut a couple of holes in the front to add some 120mm fans. I made the holes using a holesaw. Then I put some pvc pipe in the holes to make them smooth. Then I put some fiberglass filler on it to fill in some holes and even out the front and blend the pipes in which is as far as I have gotten on that. Lots of sanding to do tomorrow
One of the first things I did was paint the motherboard tray. It was not going to be modded and I wanted to see how the paint would turn out so I gave it a try. This was my first ever attempt at painting something like this and I think it turned out looking pretty good. I used Dupli-Color Flat black acrylic enamel on top of Dupli-Color self etching primer. It has been sitting for awhile so it is pretty dusty in the pictures. I tried wiping some of the dust off which is why it looks so streaked.
As far as the shell of the case was concerned there wasn't much to be done there either. I just removed the stock windows and sanded off the old paint and it was ready for new paint. Originally I had planned on doing the inside of the case in flat black and the outside in gloss black but after I painted the
mobo tray I fell in love with the look of the flat black and decided to do the outside the same. It looks really good with the neon green acrylic I have for the windows too. Here is a picture of the shell primed and with two light coats of paint. I have since finished the painting but haven't taken a picture yet.
I forgot to take any pictures of the chassis but you can see it in the background of the last pic. Basically all I have done to it so far is to remove the drive cage area and cut the part that is over the
cpu are in order to get a larger
cpu cooler in the case. I also JB welded some aluminum angles for support to both sides of the top to make up for all of the support that I cut out. I still need to cut the front fan holes and I am going to cut out the fan grill on the back. I also have an idea of what I am going to do as far as managing cables but it is hard to explain so I will just have to leave you in suspense until I do it and get some pictures up

I plan on installing a black vandal resistant switch on the front for a power switch and some green uv reactive fans to match the windows. Then on the inside I am going to put a couple of UV cold cathodes to make the whole thing glow. I haven't picked out any hardware yet but it is most likely going to be used as a gaming machine. That way I have a more portable computer, my main system is in a stacker so its not very portable at all, and something for my girlfriend to use so she isn't always using my computer
Thanks for reading my first worklog. I'll try to keep it updated and feel free to give me any advice.
And remember to always be safe. This is what happened to me when my dremel kicked back. I'll admit I wasn't using two hands like I should have been
