Default My Pimped Out '03 Avalon!

ok, well.. it was completely stock at first... resembling this picture here:

Then I had my boys, Shemi and Conk work on it last friday.... along with my buddy 'Lance

Here's the final product!!!!

First, we shortened and lowered the rear bumper, also lightened it up by getting rid of the non-important stuff.

Then i had the front bumper lightened up, Conk helped me with this one!!!

Isn't it hot!!!

Then i realized the car was a bit too wide for my driving styles, so I had Lance work on the right side for me

Oh yeah! Don't want to forget the interior!!!

Tried to add a bit of bling with all that sparkle in the second picture! what do you think?

It looks a bit cramped from the outside, but i swear, it's comfortable enough to live in in there.

If you haven't figured it out... i was in a pretty violent accident on last friday.

Conk is the Concrete barrier that I originally hit after losing control on I-690 (didn't cause all the front end damage you see... A lot of that came later.
Lance is the Ambulance that showed up prior to the majority of the damage.
Shemi is obviously the Semi truck that hit me.

Full story- I was driving on I-690 East, spun out, lost control on some ice/snow/whatever. Front left bumper slams into a concrete barrier, stops the car dead cold. (Air bags didn't deploy) I get out of the car, look at the damage and get back in and for whatever reason compelled me to, put my seatbelt back on. Then I call 911, finally an ambulance shows up about 30 mins later. As i watch the ambulance pull infront of me, I turn around, on the phone with my parents to check behind me for more Emergency vehicles. All i see is a semi truck coming straight for me, and it was obvious he wasn't about to stop. Nor was he going to miss me. After yelling something that sounds like OH SPIT! over the phone to my parents, the semi slams into the rear of my car at about 50mph causing the rest of the frontal and entirety of the rear damage. This sends me into a spin, slamming my right passenger side into the back of the ambulance that had come to my aide, pushing the ambulance about 20 feet.

I get out of the car, and walk over to the ambulance. The EMTs looked at me like I was a ghost. As far as they were concerned, I should be dead. I get carted away in a different ambulance, since this one was involved in the accident. I get to the hospital on a backboard, with a neckbrace on and everything. The doctors and nurses run the X-Rays, do the palpatation checks, and have me monitored for 4 hours. All that was abnormal was a few scratches on the back of my arm from the blown out rear glass, and a stiff neck from being thrown around so violently.

In short... I'm alive today because of a bit of luck, and because I was wearing my seatbelt. I'm also scared spitless of driving or riding in a car now, and have had to for the past few days... a car back from the bus station in rochester after a bus ride from syracuse to rochester. A car ride to the rochester airport, from the airport to syracuse, past the crash site... Very traumatizing.....

In short, kids... wear your seatbelts. Almost wouldn't be here relating this to you if i hadn't.

Would've been flung from the vehicle. Those of you who know the area, John Glenn Blvd or whatever it is, where it meets with 690, my bumper's sitting there still. The rear one.

Well, all those pics are from a trip i took back to where the accident happened, and the tow company's lot.

The entire drive there, I was white-knuckling it, and I wasn't even driving. Road conditions were perfect, everything was perfect. But I was terrified.

I've been having flashbacks, though they've slowed down in frequency. Something about seeing the grill of a semi coming at you, and the entire back right of your car cave in at you.

Safe to say, i didn't get to spend that weekend with my girlfriend and celebrate V-Day early as planned.

If i wasn't compelled by whatever thought or act of god, or act of satan, or darwin, or whoever/whatever to put my seatbelt back on after the first impact, I'd be gone.

I kinda feel bad for the truck driver though... He'll probably lose his licence and job because of this. I don't feel it's entirely his fault, though he does have to shoulder some of the blame.

he shouldn't have been flying down the left lane with all of the right-lane traffic slowed/stopped on a 2 lane no shoulder road. But then again, given the road conditions, he probably couldn't have stopped anyway.

I guess I'm not the only one that had trouble.

Thought my luck wasnt as bad as yours..

Mine consisted of:
Loss of Control.
Car stuck in snow.
Nearly cut in half by pole.
Patrolman comes by chance and calls for tow
Tow never shows up
Very Cold.
Battery Dies, and so do Hazards.
Dad comes to pick me up.
Go Home
At home, Police calls.
Tows my car.
Pays 123.56 to release car.
Pays 72.30 for new battery.
Somehow car starts.
Yet does not move.
Discovers timing belt snapped.
Hooray, carless for tomorrow school, and work.
Couldn't go to work today.
Had to pay extra 60 bucks to have car taken to Speedy repair station
Repair cost pending.

I hate Ohio Snow.

Oh, and glad you're safe!

This is one of those "Lessons" in life that you learned the hard way...but safely thank goodness!

I spent a few years working at Ford's crash barrier, that was an eye opening job.

Small cars are deathtraps...it's best to have a mid or full size veh, and of course, you learned seat belts are your best friend!

Glad to hear you were unscathed other than a bit of mental trauma, and that will go away with time

Dude... get back behind the wheel as a soon as possible. When I flipped my Jeep doin' 70, I walked out of the hospital (after them picking glass out of my head for over an hour as I took out the side window with my head when I flipped), My Mom gave me a lift home (45 miles)... I got into my '83 Grand Marquis and did 120mph down the same damn icy freeway. There was no way in hell I was going to let my fear keep me from about the only mode of transportation a guy can get in a small town in North Dakota.

In short, get behind the wheel and every time your fear comes up, push on the gas... Don't go suicidal, but don't let yourself get a complex from this. You're alive, and how many days did you drive and make it to your destination just fine?

Keep that in mind, and get back on the road! It helps a lot!

Glad to see your ok.

I learned to wear my seatbelt after my bad accident also. Even though I was wearing it at the time it happend.

Reading this brought flashback of accident.

I had a 89' Maxima I was doing more that 100 mph it was raining alot, I was heading home
I lost control on a curve on I-95 and fliped my car like 8 times and almost landed on a fence the front end of the car hit a tree that is what I think stopped me.

Accidents thay do change a person.

I am glad you made it out alive with no serious injuries cars can be replaced just give you friendly
car insurance rep a friendly call.

Better be the trucker's insurance covering it... My 'rents took off collision protection because i wasn't getting in "enough" accidents to justify the cost.

Rent a car. Hell, bum a parent's car if they're available. If all else fails, buy a complete POS for $500.00 and call it therapy (cheaper in the long run)... go someplace quiet and drive it into the ground. I've heard the longer you wait to get back behind the wheel after an accident, the harder it is to return to your formal level of confidence.

Still, I can't pass judgement... I think I'm more insane after flippin' my Jeep... still, as my driving record is attached to my employment, I have to be a good boy

You're lucky... the guy who T-boned my Bronco (well, my father's, but I was driving) had kind of crappy insurance. They wouldn't pay until all the bills were in. This included my medical bills (I racked my knee on the metal underside of the dashboard), my girlfriend's medical bills (she wasn't wearing her seatbelt and went into the windshield). Took like six months for resolution.

Seems to be the week for accidents, I guess one of our couriers wiped out on a tough stretch of road over the weekend. He flipped their van and I guess he's in the hospital. So we have a new driver for the moment.
