Tru that, I came home one day from work and my neighbor across the street had his jeep in the driveway...only problem was that it did not have a front end left. It had caught on fire and completely burned/melted everything from the bumper to the firewall...this was a 05 if i am not mistaken...grand cherokee

| My dad has a 97 jeep grand cheerokee. We have been up some pretty steep hills on that thing with out a problem. On one of our hunting trips we took an ATV trail on accident, we made it through without a single problem. It has about 230k miles on it and it is still running strong. The body does not have any rust on it either, so if the motor does go, it not going to get trashed. ::EDIT::So far we have only changed the struts and the sway bar endlinks on it.(knock on wood) | ||

| My old boss, she lived with her brother, he had a full fledged CJ-5, and he always said, i can go places in 2x4 that others can't go in 4x4. It had every light, and horsepower you can get, and was up on 36" tires, with 12" rims. he pulled a greyhound bus out of a snow issue, all with his wence, around a tree. That jeep had balls, sad to hear this awesome one from the video is off the road. What was the trick with the fire and spray on that tire, look pretty sweet. | ||

[Edit]Disclaimer: I will not be held responsible for accidents which may occur if you follow my horrible directions on how to blow a tire back onto the rims[/Edit] If the tire falls off the rim while driving in snow (you let out lots of air to make the treadmarks bigger), the quickest way to get it back on is to spray some flammable liquid on it and light it on fire. You know - I've done that three times. That said IDK if it's to wise to put that idea into people's head unless they've had someone show them how to know the right amount of starting fluid in person because I've seen people that didn't know blow the tire to shreads. Add: Also my old Grand Cherokee I could take places I couldn't take my old CJ-2A so saying they're not built like they used to be is misleading. You just can't modify them as far though. See that's the misleading aspect of old vs. new - most of the old CJ's have had engine/transmission/axle swaps so they're nothing like origonal stock. Iron Duke engines are unusuable in terms of power and reliability by most people's standards, front end drum brakes are for the birds, two piece axle assembles always broke.... and you'll have problems finding them left to this day. CJ-5s were stronger all around, but the fuel economy was dismal - I'd love to see someone daily commute with one. Jeeps are without a doubt some of the worst vehicles ever produced.... they're almost all universally unreliable. But they've got something most don't have, they're flat out fun and have their own culture. I'll probably buy another one, just saying.. the "great" days never existed - Jeep always has and still does stand for "Just Empty Every Pocket." Accept it, love it, Jeep it. | I had a 97 cherokee with over 100,000 miles that I picked up for 5k. I loved it dearly, every little thing about it. Except for the hydroplaning. In early August 2005 I hydroplaned into the back of somebody. Not bad at all, still ran very well but the tires were rubbing up against the frame (although apparently it was bad enough for the old asshole driving the other car to sue me because I ruined his back. Bull****). I was due to get it back on August 29th, 2005. Can anybody tell me what day that is? Turns out all the cars were moved to the third floor except mine, which was getting its paint redone. I saw it a month later. Looked fine on the outside, on the inside the seats were covered with inch thick mold. So yeah, hurricane water is one way to kill a jeep. Somebody once told me the reason that they stopped making cherokees was that they lasted too long and people weren't buying new ones. I don't know if that's true, but I like it.

Naw - they sold a lot of em, and people were tired of buying the body style. There was thought on a new body style and keeping the name.... but it was obsoleted with the "cute-ute" called the Liberty because they felt they'd get more sales by going that route. It had a long run, the Cherokee has claim to one of the longest model runs without a body change.

| I did something like that to an '88 Cherokee... of course, I did it at 70 miles an hour... so I can't say it survived quite as well... Damn thing wouldn't start when I tried! I love how they fixed the tailgate with duct tape! Maybe I should have tried that! | ||

| Well the Cherokee's are the "newer design" and I'm surprised that one held up. on the other hand MINE is built like a tank! 1965 Cj5 F134 engine with a wopping 74 hp (yeah only 74) but I've already pulled a 1989 caravan in park and with the emergency brakeon dragging all 4 tires. Top speed is around 60 mph | ||

| I had a 78 Cherokee that was Banana Yellow with no frills at all. After months of abuse, I finally ended up killing it by driving it through a snowbank and driving the radiator into the fan, and then kept on driving. Can't blame Jeep for that, but it damn sure took some abuse up to then. | ||

| Cool! back in 96' I think when that "blizzard of the century" hit the northeast, I did a Dukes of Hazzard with my Diplomat through a 5' snow bank to get home. It took 2 hours to make a trip that on a clean road was a 1/2 hour drive But! I would LOVE to do it again! Nothing test's the mettle of a man more than an extreeme snowstorm against his will to get home to his family! (little did I know in 2 days the snow would melt) | ||
