Default A Tire-d question

Ok, this is probably simple, but the info I found here made it sound a bit more complex than I'd like.

What I'd like to know is, my car uses 205/70/14 tires. The tire I would like to put on there is a 205/75/14. They just don't make it in my specific size. According to the link, I think it should work, but would like someone with a bit more first hand knowledge to confirm/deny it. Otherwise, will have to drop back to this tire. (which isn't bad, its #4 in the list of all All-weather tires)

The 75's are not going to be that much of a difference. Probably only be about 3/4" or maybe an inch taller than the 70's. So, it should work, if you're concerned about clearance and such.

Your speedo will be off by 3.2%, when your speedometer reads 60 you will be traveling 62mph with the new tire.

Bahahah! That's pretty worthless information, but would be sweet if I ever got pulled over and those 2 or so MPH could save me.

Like this one time when I got pulled over for doing 70+ in a 55, the cop said he had to get up to 100+ to catch me from his dead stop, haha. I got out of it just because I had told him I put bigger tires on my truck (which I somewhat did, but not enough to throw it off that much). He let me off with a warning, knock on wood.

...if Off Topic were a country, I'd be the president!

Well, that's ok, I don't really drive by my speedometer, more by sight.

heh how does that work? how loud and quickly a squirrel bounces off your windshield? I have 10" whells on my mini and as a result the speedo is still somewhat....out when driving. Its in the garage having all the necessary done to it so that will no doubt be fixed...the mechanics is damn thorough (sp?).

Nope, just keep accelerating until everything is a comfortable blur. The more sleepy I am, the blur stage can happen about 40-45, the more caffeine in my system, 75-80.
