I have been looking for a decent 1st or second gen Probe. Haven't found much locally. If anyone is in the Florida area or even Georgia or hell Tennessee or anywhere else in the remotely-close South that knows of a Probe GT for sale in their area hit me up on PM.

Must be:

-Super clean
-5 speed
-GT, or a 1st-gen LX
-Under or around 1500 dollars
-Free of rust

I'm really looking for 1st-gen GT's for sale. There are NONE for sale locally, in the whole state of Florida, and if there is then I haven't seen it yet. I've checked local car dealers, the newspaper, Edmonds and AutoTrader and no 1st-gen GT's. They're all probably sitting in a junkyard rusting away

There is ONE 1st gen GT locally PERIOD, and it isn't for sale, it's a 1990 and it's ub3r-clean.

First gens are 88 - 92, the old style Probe like mine. All 1st-gen GT's are turbocharged with an IHI turbo at 7psi. The 2nd-gens are the sleek sexy looking ones 1993 - 1997.

I'd say get a 1gb Talon, they look the best.

Anyways, my stepdad is selling I think 89 (first gen for sure though) probe GT, its got rust and is in bad condition, and its in Ohio. So I don't think you'd want it. My brother is also selling a probe, it is a 93 SE, both are 5-speeds though. I talked him into getting a Talon.

I dont think you will have a problem finding that car j-dogg, but price/no rust factor. You might have to compromise at some point.

I too am I fan of the AWD talons Chunckonuts.

yea, I love talons, not so big on the looks of eclipse's or laser's though but since its all DSM its alright. Mines not AWD or turbo, sadly. My dad bought it new in 94 and he got the FWD n/t. I'm going to be putting a turbo engine in it soon ands thats the best I can do.

Go to advanced search, type in your zip code, then select "within 300miles" and I guarantee you will find your car.

You must really enjoy having flip-up lights and a big "PROBE" logo on your back end; otherwise you'd expand your searches to include 626DX's and MX-6's. All the important (good) parts are exactly the same; plus, If you found an '88 626DX Turbo, I would stalk you.

I tried AutoTrader turbo and there's a couple cars I could get. But the one I was going to get is the 2nd-gen GT for 1650 on there.

But I really wanted a 1st-gen GT because with very little work they rape 2nd-gens and parts for the 1g's are dirt cheap. Plus I like the look of the 1g better, it looks more muscular than the 2g. They also put out more torque than the 2nd gens and with a little work can push 230 and250whp. You could buy a whole 'nother car for what it costs to get 270whp on a 2nd-gen.

My friend at work has a 2nd-gen DSM and it is the sickest car ever, looks totally stock, even took off the "T" in GS-T and the only way you would know he had some serious boostage under that hood is the giant intercooler in the front of his car. Other than that it looks completely stock, total sleeper.

Meanwhile my buddy on 2nd shift bragged to me about how his 91' CRX with a B16 swap shut down a Camaro Z28.

i wonder how many gears the guy in that Z28 missed.

If you get a first gen Probe,I would stay away with the one that has the Ford Falcon engine in it for reliability reasons.
