| Unless you're getting this professionally installed, just stick to buying Dynamat type stuff. Self adhesive vinyl damping should work well enough. DO NOT BUY the asphalt stuff, it really does smell like ass.
The spray stuff works good (Same stuff that is sprayed on under the acoustical foam in zero resonance chambers: rooms where acoustics of a car, motor, etc. is tested.) It is expensive, hard to apply correctly, and smells while it is curing. It turns vibrational energy into heat.
EDIT: trunk rattles are either loose hinge hardware, or a license plate rattle. Get a set of wrenches, and some adhesive foam tape from a hardware store, putting the foam tape around the edges on the back of your plate, then reinstalling it should help quite a bit. Then tighten up (don't torque them too tight) all the hardware in your trunk. Use common sense, and be careful that what you tighten isn't supposed to be at a specified torque. |
