| The time has come for my friend to move along. She is going away from me after having been here for 14 years. Together we have been all over the place. We have seen and done things that only we know about, and had loads of fun doing it all! My friend has seen me through 2 moves, 1 old boyfriend, to my wedding and on my honeymoon. She saw me speed when I was rushing to be somewhere, or going slow to avoid getting other places. Not only is she my confidant in times when no one else would be around, but she is sleek, smart and has all the things I needed. When we first met that is. She has speed, beautiful lines, tight turns and is smooth as silk. Now it is not like me to talk about another woman this way, but she is not just any other woman. Here is a picture of us together in 1996( no hair comment okay, lol): My friend that I now send on her way to brighten someone elses day is my 1991 Nissan 240SX-SE. Bought her brand new, and made every single last payment till she was mine. First ever car that I had done that without it being a present from my Dad, or a hand me down. Sometimes going without food to make that $390.00 payment. Aw, but what's a little food when you have such a great piece of automobile technology. Then the time came about 1 year ago I realized my car was no longer practical for my lifestyle. Taking my Dad, and Grandmother places meant shuffling cars around with my husband to use his truck. The two doors became more of a hinderance to any passengers who might consider folding themselves in half to ride in the almost non-existant back seat. Doing more in city driving since stopping work meant the 5 speed barely had time to stretch her legs. Yes, it became obvious that I had to get a "mature grown up car". No more sports car for me. So it took me along time but I was finally ready to do it. Started looking in the paper to see what was about. The very first one I looked at was the one I got! Had it since Saturday, and I am in love with my new car. It is just the right size, has all the features I wanted. Best of all it is still a sporty car. Thank goodness I did not get the station wagon model I had considered. Really though I did not give up anything in performance, pickup or speed. Course I have not checked this personally it is just what I read in the owners manual. ![]() | ||

| Nice car. I came damn close to getting a Volvo myself once before. Very reliable ride. I understand the loss you feel, I felt the same way when my 1969 Dodge van (known as the Luuuuv Machine) went away. Shag carpeting in the back, curtains on the windows, wood paneling glued to the walls, an old bar out of a trailerhouse bungy corded to the side, and bean bag chairs to party in. This isn't it, but it's the same body style. ![]() | ||

| i felt exactly the same way when i lost my 73' Vega (The Veg-o-matic), for being the 2nd worst car every built (i think the Edsel was #1) it lasted me through 5 wonderful years of somewhat-working condition, handled like a sack of marbles on an ice rink, got gas mileage that would only make a SUV jealous, and an engine that was so powerful, the neighbors kids never once one a drag race with me..... ...the neighbors kids were on bikes... but that car had character, and people knew me by it, it was a gorgeous car (73 model, canary yellow, EXCELLENT shape, and only 18k miles on it when i bought it in 97), it never once put me in a situation that i couldnt fix on my own, never stranded me, and when something big did happen, fixing it usually required a crescent wrench and two rolled up sleeves... i miss that car same exact body style, year, and model as this one, just canary yellow and without the custom rims and engine, man that car was pretty... ![]() | ||

Fu3l My very first car was a 1972 Vega! We called her Beullah May (maybe she would start, and maybe she wouldn't). Mine was that gosh aweful blue that really looked purple. Like this one here: Got me and all my friends everywhere we wanted to go though. That is till the engine blew. ![]()

| I had the Pontiac version of the Vega...the Astre. Bright orange with a white racing stripe down the side with "GT" reversed out of it. All of 90 screaming horses under the hood. I put in truck springs, Koni's, chrome rims with baby moon hub caps and ran big fat Pirelli 60's all around. And a monster stereo system (for the time) a Kenwood "Powerplay" 8-track with 27 pounding watts of power. I used to race it sideways around the mountain roads where I grew up. It looked like a big orange roller skate and was every bit as fast.Nice new ride Foe, enjoy it! | ||

| Isn't it odd how we sometimes couldn't wait to get rid of a car, only to later desire it more than the far superior rides that replaced them? I still want a 1975 Dodge Power Wagon half ton myself. ![]()

| I'm just entering that stage where i can fit everything i own into a nissan and don't have the responsability to "shuffle" people around. I enjoy the boddy style of the 300 zx (with the spoiler removed). I'm looking into purchasing soon a black or dark blue 95 or 96 with a tan interior (i would customize it if it didn't meet my wants or needs) and the twin turbo engine. ![]() | ||

Want to hear something extremely weird? Within a week of moving to Minneapolis from the Bay Area, I traded in my 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme for my Jeep. Within a week, I noticed a very familiar car parked in the employee parking lot of the Carlson Buildings right across the street from my apartment. One day, I went over and checked the VIN on it....it was my car that I had traded in. Move forward a year and I relocate from Minnetonka to the Eagan area to be closer to work. Guess what car I found parked three marked garges down from me in the townhouses? I'm not kidding. My old car...coming back to haunt me. I asked the dealer down in Burnsville who had bought my car and he said one of the salesmen bought it as a commuter car for his daughter who lived in Eagan and worked in Minnetonka. No, I didn't ask the daughter out....she was kinda not nice looking. Very haunting story....and it's the truth. Rob
