| Not sure if y our making fun of them, but I went for a ride in one, and I sure as hell can't make fun of a neon the same way. Those cars are nuts. They guys car I went for a ride in got a Manufactures Boost Upgrade Chip and a cold air intake. Extra 30 hp and that thing goes faster than I would ever need. | ||

The GNX is pwnage. I have a video of two of them racing a Viper GTS and you don't even hear the GNX'es, just the sound of the Viper trying to keep up.

| That Vette was built with one purpose in mind, to beat the Viper for the king of Amercan Muscle crown. However, I think Ford ****ed everyone up when they threw the GT into the mix. You can bet that Chrysler will not be resting on their laurels. Remember, they own Lambourghini and I bet a little of it leaks into the Viper. About the kids behind the wheel, my son just turned 16 this month and wants a Neon SRT. Then last weekend a local 16 and 17 year old kid were killed in a head-on accident with a little old lady while they were street racing in a Honda against a couple of other 16 year olds. The Honda's engine went through the chest of the driver, and the passenger was pinned in the seat until he died choking on his own blood. I'm now looking at a 1991 Hyundai Excel for him with high mileage and a bad transmission. | ||

Wow... that little old lady musta been drivin' somethin' PIMP to push a hamster through the chest cavity of a person! Seriously though... I'm in lust (I can't call it love... love makes some semblence of sense) with a Subaru STI... I don't think they've invented a car with enough horse to satisfy me (or they have, and I've just never driven it... )

You are actually right. Chrysler bought Lamborghini right around the time of the Viper's conception, I think 1990 or 1991-ish was when they were bought. Remember the Chrysler Portofino concept? Scissor style doors and cut-out windows, it was practically a 4-door Lamborghini. That was a 1991 or 1992 concept car. They even had a thing going in Formula One, but that didn't last very long. Eventually, Lutz focused on Team Viper and had Lamborghini design and fab the original intake manifold on the 1st-gen Vipers. So yes, there is a little bit of Ferrucio Lamborghini riding inside every Viper. GM will never take the throne to the baddest-ass sports / musclecar ever again. I see Corvettes everyday. Hundreds of them. Mostly driven by upper-middle class white-collar workers and doctors. They are the modern-day yuppie sportscar much like the Porsche 911 was in the 1980's. The vast majority of them will never be taken to their full limit, will never see their full potential, only 5% of them will ever see anythign over 3000-rpm and 70mph. Vipers are a whole completely different car, most of the people that drive them are very well aware of what they are capable of and at some point or another explored those capabilities on a deserted road somewhere. A musclecar makes a statement when it goes by. When you see a Corvette, it's just a Vette. Big deal, you see 'em everyday. Now if a real musclecar like a 70' Hemicuda rumbles by, people point and stare. "Hey check out that car, man that thing is wicked sick!" Or if a hopped-up Camaro SS 396 drops it in second, lights up the tires and shatters any glass object for 200 yards, people notice it. Corvettes I think are too subdued and refined. Musclecars are raw, unabashed, unbridled, all about tire-smoking pavement-eating power. They are loud, and the owners want them to be loud. Pussies drive Corvettes. "Hey look at me, botannical Corvette with no balls no balls!!" You wanna talk about a car with balls? 1963 Volare / Dart 413 Max Wedge. 4.11 final I think? Acid-dipped bodies. Those, are not just awesome cars, those are f*cking wicked sick cars.

| If you wondering why new "muscle cars" are not "raw, unabashed, unbridled" well with all the new emmsion laws and the standard of acceptible sound and gas usage. Such things are pretty much impossible and I can promise you there wont be a new car that has these "features" now, in a month or in 5 years. Use your head man. You can bash on a car all you want but you have to use your head. As for "tire-smoking pavement-eating power" well, you have never driven in a Vette. If you did you would know that you can smoke your tires untill there is no tire left. | ||
