Cool My 'Pimp' Ride =D

I don't know how you Pimps out there feel about Japanese cars (Honda, Acura, etc.) but they personally get on my nerves. Especially the kids with The Fast and the Furious syndrome, you know? They think if they get a body kit and some wheels they have something that will outrun anyone. Needless to say, I don't like Imports. And to make a stand against it, I've been working on this 1966 Dodge Charger. It's not the prettiest or my favorite of the Chargers, but it was what I ended up with.

Here's a link to the restoration archive. I've posted all th e major work done, in order, with pictures as I've went along: My CarDomain Page.

Also, check the thumbnails of the latest pictures.

If you're interested in discussing it, just ask any questions you'd like. I'll be glad to answer them.

Nice Charger, man! Definitely better than ANY rice-burner, LOL. I bet that 440 sounds so good. One of these days Im going to invest in some American muscle. There is about 15 punk kids with Civics in my neighborhood that Id just love to smoke. They all think theyre hot s*** with their cold-air intakes and mufflers. They put maybe 10 horses to the wheels and they think they got a f****** Ferarri. Please! Sorry to rant, but god that pisses me off.

Man, you're so lucky that it was kept in good condition for those 'garage years.' Looked good before restoration, and now it looks, and probably rides even better. Nice job!

Haha, definitely better than any rice burner. And, all motor I'd quite possibly smoke a turbo'd one. Don't know yet, until I get to try. Right now I have to figure out why it's blowing lifters! =D

Haha, it's Import City around here, too! The revving stops with the idle of my Charger. Revving it up to about 4,000 and the hood shakes to the left and right. I've even had complaints from the neighbors of it rattling their windows...at an idle. The 440 with Flowmaster Super 40's puts out a sweet rumble. Nothing like a big block!

Thanks, ERAD. I appreciate the kind words, man. It was a hunk of crap when I pulled it out of the garage after the sun and time had cracked down on it before the storage. The motor was locked up tighter than kid's behinds at the Neverland Ranch! I had to go back to the basics and work my way from the bottom up.

Thing of beauty man, chargers are the pinacle of american muscle IMO. Saving up to get one of those myself. '68 prefferably...

Nice ride hombre!

I personally don't care these days. All stock cars are pretty limited unless you're ready to put up heavy dinero up front...

Aftermarket is where it's at.

My 3000GT is an import... my plans include amping up the suspension, adding a turbo kit, possibly a wet-shot of N20, cams, lifters, fuel pump, exhaust, and a bunch of other crap...

UNLESS I end up buying another car 'cause the winters out here are pretty biting on a car... then I'm thinking of getting an old Chevy/Dodge/Ford truck and amping the hell out of a nice, huge-ass V8 motor... without having that lame-ass on-board computer to worry 'bout!

Of course, as I'm in between jobs at the moment... my dreams include installing the damn f-pipe/test pipe I bought six months ago that I never had time to install...

Didja all know there doesn't seem to be any emissions testing in Montana? Life is so very, very sweet!!!

That's a nice car, no doubt.

I'm an import guy myself. I don't like imports that are fugly and loud for no apparent reason except to be noticed. I do like imports that are loud as hell for only the reason of being fast as hell. The sound of the blow-off valve quickly followed by the sound of tires chirping into second and third really gets me going.

In my post, I think I said I didn't really like 1966's that much. 1968 and 1969's are my personal favorite. Well, it's a lot like the '66 and '67 in that there is only one or two little small differences (marker lights on '66 and '67 and taillights on '68 and '69).

I also love having a Charger from the first year they were ever made. I even found a commercial online for the advertisement of the 1966 Dodge Charger. Quite a find!

I don't necessarilly hate Import cars, it's just the attitude that comes with them, you know? Most everyone (around here, anyway) all think they have something hot. I mean...they're good for an everyday driver or just something to toy around with, but they're more expensive than domestics, I'm pretty sure.

I need to post pictures of my buddy's car or something, haha. It's a '93 Mustang 306cid, AFR heads, built to the max pushing 400 horsepower to the flywheel, all motor.

Well, there's no accounting for taste.

I've never saw an Import that was 'fast'. I've saw some that were pretty quick, running at the local drag strip. But, nothing impressive. I mean, a buddy of mine has a '95 Civic Hatchback with a B18A swap and NOS 100 dry shot (I think it's dry).

I guess it's really all the same, though. I'm a gearhead and whatnot, and I guess even though Imports aren't my thing, it's another person's, you know?

Imports have a lot of potential for speed... problem is the damn ricers throw a freakin' $500.00 wing on, a $300.00 exhaust cannon and some vinyl and think they're ready to take the streets by force...

Sweet ride, subdismal! Very clean, gorgeous job.

By the way, it doesn't have to be an import to be a ricer! There's a bright-yellow '90's Chevy Cavalier running around Portland with a hood scoop, body kit, and roof-high wing. With any luck, whatever "engine mods" he put in will be enough to carry the weight of the extra fiberglass.

I happen to like Civics. They're a reliable college car that's good on gas. But it beats me why anyone would spend $15,000+ on a new one, then throw in another $5000 in mods to get a "performance" car. You'd think a used V8 Mustang would be a much better starting point...

Again, I personally don't think Imports can be 'fast'. I've road in quick Imports, and I've road in my friend's 400HP (to the flywheel) small block Mustang which throws you back in your seat so much you feel you're stomach is imploding. I just don't see an Import doing that.

However...to each his/her own!

Thanks for the props, FF.

Haha, Dodge Neons get me everytime. It's a Dodge...a domestic...don't ruin a good thing by trying to make it a Honda!

That's something else entirely. I'm against Imports on the performance side of things because they're just goofy, as we've established. However, Hondas will run for a very long time and they are good, reliable, and easy on gas. I'd own one, perhaps...but never do anything to it to come off as trying to be Fast and Furious, you know?

I have to admit, my GT will throw me back in my seat, but I don't feel my bellybutton traveling towards my spine... this must be rectified if I'm ever gonna be happy

Again... I'm not saying I'm import happy... most parts seem to be cheaper for domestics if you're gonna trick 'em out...

Good example... Iateronmly and I were talking awhile back... he needs one race cam to get his Jeep to kick more ass... total price was like 300 bucks if I remember right... I need FOUR, at like $1,200.00!

That is an awsome car man, I personally have someone who said that when i get the money he will sell me his 68 Mustang, with a 380 block, it is in awsome condition too. But where i live there is a Honda Civic around almost every corner with a Wal-Mart Muffler on it and crappy body kits. I had a guy Challenge me with his peice honda civic hatch back in my 90 GMC Seirra and i smoked him done the road, He didn't relize i have a brand new 350 block fully bored out, New tranny geared High so it is easly pushing 360/370 hp, The truck looks like slow but hey doesn't mean it is slow.
