Default Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!!!!!

Well... I had a fun night...

Girlfriend and I on the town all of today and tonight, I'm thrilled 'cause I don't get to see her as much as I'd like to 'cause of work... we have this amazingly perfect day....

Tonight, I'm taking her home, some guy decides he's turning and plows right the hell into me... I'm happy to say I was sitting on the side that got hit, but it's still a bad deal 'cause well...

I'm wearing my seat-belt...

She isn't.

Only thing I had to quell the blood coming from her was my Gi, so my karate uniform is soaked in my girlfriend's blood... rode with her in the ambulance down to the hospital....

I just got home from the ER... she's going to be okay, but her face is all f*cked up (it'll heal, but she's all swollen)

My old man's Bronco is friggin' trashed (I just killed my SECOND '88 SUV... my first was an '88 Cherokee)... kind of bums me out 'cause I liked driving it for the stick-shift...

Also tweaks me off 'cause my own car is the one with gap insurance, full coverage and would basically put me in a better place to buy another car if it were totalled.... my old man will be lucky to get what he paid for it (which wasn't much)... second damn car of his I've killed...

My night has pretty well sucked... my girlfriend is hurt, my knee is killing me and my back is stiff as hell... as the title says...

DAMMIT!

ADD: To top it off, I still have my Montana driver's license... so I'm sure I'll be getting a fine for that 'un...

man dude that sucks... i hope she gets better fast and i hope your old man can make something good out of the situation. on the bright side of things, at least nobody was severley hurt or dead, any time youre able to walk away from a wreck your pretty well off in my book compared to what could have happened

In a case like that, you just have to be thankful that it wasn't more serious. I know it sucks, but could have been devastating.

I wouldn't worry about vehicles or fines right now. You should be concentrating on getting healthy a long with your GF. I hope you and your GF have a fast recovery.

Ahh DS so sorry to hear about the accident. Keep us informed on your kind ladies progress and tell her we all feel for here, and you too, from the Rob & becky compound.

But on a lighter note..... I have found a Budo Ryokukai Aikido / Iaido school to join in the spring. It is one of the only schools the still use live blades in Michigan that I know of. Now I have to get in contact with Bugei and have a custome set made for me.

Sorry man, Give your girlfriend my best wishes. Next time make sure she got her belt on. I'd hate for you to loose her over someones stupidity or mistake. Forget fines and what not for now doesn't sound like your fault anyway, take care of her thats the main thing. God bless

I stayed at the hospital so I could find out the results of her CT and she checked out.

We talked 'til after 5 AM after she got home... she's doing okay. She's being hard on herself for not wearing her seatbelt...

We talked again this morning and aside from a headache, she's doin' okay...

Give ya'll the full deal later... gotta go get my stuff out of the car before the insurance company claims it...

Damn Dude, I'm sorry to hear that, I'm very happy she is going to be ok.
As the others have said, it could have been worse, so thank the Lord for that.

Dude, sucks about the car but I am glad you are both ok. Hopefully she will rethink wearing her seatbelt in the future.

Dude, that sucks. At least everyone is doing okay. It coulda been way worse, I'd say.

Was this in your 3000GT or your dad's Bronco?

Scary stuff man..I get to see cars crunched at work, I can't imagine bein inside one!

Glad to hear you guys pulled through without too many problems...Hope ya guys have speedy recoveries!

I hope you take this opportunity to have your Dad upgrade to a brand new car or truck... they have new safety equipment, every year they get better and better.
The rules keep tightening up, and the safety labs just expanded to keep up with the new standards.

Side curtain air bags, knee air bags, and seat belt pretensioners along with other innovations realy make a difference in how well you pull through an accident.

Years ago they were happy if you just survived..now they are trying to make them so you don't end up realy crippled afterwards.

Dad's Bronco II... my girlfriend hates my car ironically, so I've been borrowing his... I was JUST starting to teach my girlfriend how to drive a stick shift, and I was getting better at downshifting instead of laying on the brakes all the time... I was really hoping to get more practice in.

Oh well...

Talked to her again tonight, she's doin' good. We're discussing the future, and we're basically planning on her moving in with me sometime soon (after I move out of my folks place, which this accident is going to set me back a little, but I'm still on my way).

Her parents have pretty much designated me dangerous though, so they're telling her to stay away from me... it's going to get harder to see her 'cause she's still living at home. As she told her father I'm 22, it's not even my age that's freakin' him out... not sure where I went wrong... I think it's just 'cause she told me she loved me last night in front of her mother... who knows I'm 27. Life is weird there...

Even the ambulance driver blinked when he knew she was 18 and I'm 27... I really can't wait until she hits at least 20... she's the one, so I'll deal with people lobbin' stones my direction, but it'll be much easier when she's just a little bit older... Even 19 and 28 doesn't sound quite as bad!

As for the car, I think I'm not gonna know what the hell is goin' on 'til the mail comes in... (I'm NOT looking forward to this... Paperwork took eight damn months to get it all done when I rolled the Jeep).

ADD: Didn't help I didn't make it to the storage lot today... I got ready to go, and just decided to rest my eyes for a couple minutes... seven hours later, I guess they were rested.

ADD2: She's been the one reminding ME to wear a seatbelt half the time... it's pretty messed up that she'd be the one in an accident to not be wearing one.

That's a lesson for all of you folks who don't think a seatbelt is important or "cool". A while back I was driving my wife's van and my older son was giving me a little bit of crap about the seatbelt when I told him to put it on. He kept saying "I will." I was in my neighborhood so I was only going about 10MPH when I stood on the brakes. He went out of his seat and actually ended up mostly on the dash. I guess he was a little pissed, but I didn't really notice because I had to pull over until I stopped laughing.

Man DS, just like all your bros here, I am sorry for you having to go through that, but I am also glad that:
A: You're both going to be OK
B: Everyone is alive
C: You handled yourself extremely well in a tough situation
D: You shared an experience wherein she got to see your courage, coolness under fire, and how much you care for her. It's not how we get through the good times together that draw us closer, but how we handle the bad times.

Growing up in a divorced family, I rarely saw my natural father's father, my grandpa. I went to his 60th birthday party when I was 15 and got to know him quite a bit better, and had an awesome time. We made plans to spend some time together ocean fishing after he got back from a vacation to Vegas. He and my step-grandma left the next day for Vegas in their Dodge Ramcharger.
They never made it.
A couple in a hurry to get married in Vegas attempted to pass them at a high rate of speed in a construction zone, saw the upcoming ditch, slammed on the brakes and swerved back into the other lane, clipping the back corner of the Ramcharger, which set both vehicles rolling. My Dad was called and went out to Vegas to identify the bodies. When he came back, between the tears, he was able to express that the Ramcharger hardly looked damaged, the full internal rollcage doing its job well. My grandparents however, were hardly recognizable. Neither were wearing seatbelts, and my grandpa died due to internal injuries from numerous secondary collisions with the steering wheel, my step-grandma was flung from the vehicle through the windshield. The results were similar for the other couple, who also were not wearing seatbelts.
I've never had to have anyone remind me to wear a seatbelt since then.

Ya'll want to know what's weird as hell?

She was wearing the same jacket I had on when I rolled the Jeep (I loaned her my coat 'cause she was cold)...

She also had the T-shirt I was wearing from that accident... She wanted something that was mine to wear, and I told her she could have any shirt I have, and she picked that one... she had it in her purse (well, it's more of a bag than a purse...).

I'm going to ask my old man to get some pictures of the front of the Bronco, the wheel was all mashed in, and the fender was pretty much gone (rolled underneath, I got hit by a Nissan Sentra, which was a bit lower to the ground than the Bronco... glad as hell I tried to dodge him 'cause in a head-on, I think I would have rolled... which probably would have killed her... makes to ol' blood run cold...)

Even more ironic, cop kept asking me if I'd been doing drugs, or drinking... kept wondering why he was being so repetative about it...

Here's the shirt I was wearing: Pillz

Hey man at least you are OK. Hopefully your girl learned a valuable lesson and I'm glad it wasn't worse than it could be.

My friend went off a 100ft. embankment recently in his WRX and without giving too many details, the car was totalled and caught on fire after it slid into a tree. Unless it's metal everything in the interior and engine bay was just gone from the fire. His airbags didn't even go off. What saved him was his seatbelt and the accident just further emphasized how important they are.

The other really crazy thing is though is his insurance carrier must rock or something, the turnaround from wreck to check was like 3-4 weeks and it was for the full value of the car so he's already looking to buy another WRX. I hope dealing with insurance is a smoother ride for you this time around.

I think I'm going to now install some 4 pt. harnesses in my Civic just because it doesn't have any airbags.

Hey BA, hahahahaha, that's great.
