There is a good chance that car will be in my garage by October.

Sweet!

What's the plan mr man?
Keep it original, or soup it up some?
What's under the hood anyways? 289?

Now what kinda question is that. Mopar never produced a 289 cube motor.

Nice looking car regardless of engine. That would make a nice addition to any garage. 1970 roadrunner correct?
Shame about the dent in the roof, hopefully will come out without much trouble. Good luck with it.

289 is ford, good engine too.
318 w/727 automatic would be my guess.

It's a 1970 Plymouth Satellite coupe. It has the 318 in it. The only things not original is a distributor, battery, tires, oil, and gas. 50K miles on it. It doesn't need interior restoration but needs the roof fixed, a bit rust removed from the base of the back window, and new paint. Starts and drives perfect. I should be dragging it home by mid-October if everything falls in place. From what I've read these things are getting rare since everyone tries to turn them into a RoadRunner or GTX. If it ends up with me, it will stay fully stock.

Very nice. I was wondering about it maybe being a Satellite due to the chrome side trim and the fact that the tail lights don't have the horizontal divider bar. If you do anything to the engine I would pull the timing cover and make sure it doesn't have the gay plastic timing gear on the cam. My dad had a '75 D100 pickup with the 318 when I was growing up (my first car), and that gear eventually breaks and makes a mess of things. Other than the lower output nature of the 318 it was the only thing we could ever fault that engine for. It ran like a champ for years and was abused almost all of them. Finally gave up on it due to rust, dang eastern PA winters and lots of offroading didn't do it any favors.

You'll have to give us a proper ride report when you get it.

I just happened to see a super clean 70 GTX about a week ago. Man, it was pretty. Yeah, it's very tempting to turn it into something else but I think it will be more unique to keep it stock... for now.

It's not a given that I will end up with this car yet. I've known about it for years and have been working on actually acquiring it for a couple of months now. When I shook the magic 8 ball it responded with "Signs point to Yes".

Coel, you are right. I want a Hemi monster that can pull the front wheels off the ground but it would be a travesty to change a car like this that is so completely original.

EDIT: Those pics at the beginning of this thread are a couple of years old. The car has been in the weather and doesn't look quite as nice anymore. That's part of the reason I've been pushing hard to acquire it.

So what's the deal? Is the guy hesitant to sell it? Or his asking price is a bit high? Seems a shame to have a car like that rot away when there's a guy ready and willing to show it the love and attention it deserves to restore it...

It's a matter of convincing one MOPAR fan that letting his stuff go to another MOPAR fan would be more beneficial to his car than watching it rot in a driveway. The dude that owns it is completely in love with it, he just can't give it the attention it needs.
