Wow....that has to be one of the stupidest wastes of a car I have ever seen in my life.
I had to find out who this Sage guy was, and this page came up:
So yeah, I'm thinking it's just a joke car for our amusement...
Then I remembered something that a car salesman told me when I was looking at the Tundras at a Toyota dealership: He said the Scion was aimed at a 14 y/o demographic. The question that inevitably comes up is why would a car manufacturer aim an entire line of automobiles at a market segment that doesn't even drive? His answer was simply that this will be the next group of drivers, and the Scion is positioned both as an economy car for starting drivers, and as a
child's conception of what a car should look like.
Once you look at the boxy, simplistic "appeal" of the Scion, and consider the influence kids have on today's parental buying decisions, it make sense...in a very frightening way.
Maybe I'm totally off base, but this Sage Vaughn could very well have hit upon a stroke of genius, creating a car that appeals directly to the heart of the YouTube demographic. Can't anyone else see this vehicle featured in a slew of A.D.D.-friendly-length clips where:
*It gets stuck in the snow (3" lowering kit guarantees it will) and the entire rear end gets ripped off trying to towstrap it out.
*Police helicopter infrared video of a couple having sex in the back of it (topless, indeed).
*They pack a bit too much propellant into the potato gun, "hilarity" ensues.
*A passenger in the back leans out to smack a bicycle rider, then gets nailed in the face by an oncoming car, lawlz.
*Someone tries to jump it with a skateboard and gets a compound fracture for their effort, lawlz.
Yup, I expect to see more of this young marketing "genius" at work.
