Default The real reason I haven't been modding.

I just bought a new ride. My old car is a '96 Saturn, manual everything, has 204K miles on it. The seats were starting to lose their stuffing, the windshield's cracked, and the clutch is slowly dying (original one, BTW).

So, after 9 years of service, I've up and replaced it.

The new whip: 2006 Saturn Ion Redline.
Supercharged 2.0L, factory competition package, LSD, water intercooled, runs mid-14's in the quarter-mile stock, top end is around 150MPH. I'll soon be installing the factory Stage 2 upgrade, which bumps it up to about 260HP and is still covered by the factory warranty!

They do wheelhop quite a bit, but BWoody Performance Products sells traction bars for them. Hope your buddy enjoys his! I'm loving mine.

Here's my busted flexpipe... I guess I shouldn't have been doing burnouts with it. Part is on order, should be in middle of this week. And yes, it'll do two-wheel front burnouts as long as I hold the pedal down.. or so I've heard...

I test drove one of those (also same thing as a Cobalt SS). My only complaint was the gauge placement. but man it is fast. I have a V8 Taurus SHO and that little car would walk circles around mine!!

Yeah, the gauges take a little getting used to. It's a lot faster than people think... which is just fine with me!

Nice car, IceMage. We have a lot in common... factory Recaro seats, sport tuning, paid around $15K....

But mine's boosted! And yours is "vitamin-pee yellow." Just kidding, man. Still a nice car.

Seriously, I thought the SVT 6-speeds were awesome, until I saw the Europe-only Focus RS turbo. (I used to work at a Ford dealership in a previous life.) Why is it they get all the cool cars??

What kind are you thinking of getting? Paxton? Procharger?

250WHP... hmmm, once I get my stage 2 installed, it'd be a close race. Nothing beats the whine of a supercharger! Almost more addictive than crack. The look on people's faces when you blow by with the blower screaming... priceless.

I'm reading up on the Powerworks, and it's a roots! Sweet, so's the Ecotec LSJ motor (which is what's in my Saturn).

Unfortunately, your blower kit costs the same as an entire LSJ crate motor... not trying to be a jerk, but that's sad. Shame you can't find one cheaper. It looks like (from the info on superchargersonline.com) that the kit comes with 36# injectors... I think my car has 32# ones, and the stage 2 goes up to 42# units. I'd consider upgrading the injectors if you go above 250HP. What's the redline on that motor?

Yah they are a lot, but I guess that is because they come with everything you need for the install...well but the tools neways...

redline is 7600 after a flash I think.

That's not horrible, I guess. With the GM stage 2, it's $550 for the factory kit, plus a few hundred for installation. Goes from 205HP to about 255HP.

I can get an aftermarket pulley, injectors, and have someone tune my car for about $500 total, and it'll make more than 260HP. As long as you don't mind voiding your warranty, that's the way to go!

I'll try to put up some vids of the car sometime. Maybe you can too. I've only seen a few SVT Focii around here.

Isn't it because our market is a little more demanding on proper cars

That and if they tried to sell the Focus ST over here it would cost an arm, leg and a left nut
