Default Head-unit wiring help

HEy, so my bro has a 1996 ford f-150 eddie buaer edition.

We're trying to install an aftermarket head-unit, as well as some new speakers.

So far, the speakers were easy to get in. But, we have an issue, we can't seem to wire up the head unit.

The speakers are wired up correctly, but, we cannot seem to wire the power correctly.

We have these wires left to connect.

Truck:

1. Yellow wire with black stripe
2. 2x Black wire with green stripe.
3. Orange wire with black stripe.
4. Blue wire with red stripe.
5. Green wire with purple stripe.
6. Black

Head-unit:

1. Yellow wire (battery)
2. Red (ignition)
3. Black (ground)

We'e looked at diagrams, and charts of the what the wires do, and so far, they havnt helped. We've tried every combination possible, and nothing has worked.

Just use a regular circut tester and find the wire that's always hot, then find the one thats only hot when ignition is on.

alot of cars stock stereos have dimmer wires (two or three in some cases). The colorfull ones could be for speaker expansion, i know my civic had two front door speakers but wires for two in the back, don't know why you have 5 extras lol. Like MC&C said, get out the multimeter, check which is one when the ignition is turn on, and black is normally ground.

If all else fails, do what Musclecars said. That's the way I got my aiwa head unit going in my 87 Nissan maxima.
