| Hey well I dunno who here is much into car audio!? But here's a different type of worklog for everyone. If you've noticed my sig has changed to go along with this! I've done a lot of the mods that I've wanted to do to the car this year. Now I'm in the mood for some audio modding lol. This is called: Project: Maxxed-Out Picked that as a title since all of this is going into a Maxima, and it's gonna cost a whole lot...otherwise it just sounds cool. I plan on going to Nashville in July for the All Import Meet and have this done by then. Yes, I guess I have moved on from the computer modding world. But I'd never leave you guys at PimpRig! (PCA) Right now I have the stock Bose system which came with the 2003 Maxima. It's suffering from cd skipping and speaker cutting out issues. So I decided to go ahead and swap it out! On my list of things to get/do: Viper791xv Car Alarm Fi Q 15" Subwoofer 2- Amplifiers (Class D Mono + 4 Ch.) Wiring Kit Rainbow SLC / Rainbow Germaniums 6.5" Custom 2.3 Cu Ft Subwoofer Box Pioneer Premier DEH-P880Prs Headunit Sound Deadening I'd say my budget is around $500...but I'm getting things as I get the $. All the things listed will run about ~$2000 if I buy new and get enough sound deadening. Here are pics for those who enjoy worklogs with images lol. Fi Q 15" Subwoofer came in this week Purchased from FiQ's website.![]() Here you can see the basket and motor structure. ![]() Then the ClassD Mono 1100W amplifier...got it the same week. ![]() Oh and some amplifier pr0n for the guys ![]() ![]() That is all for now everyone! Hopefully I can keep the updates coming, but this is going to be a very long worklog. Comments are ALWAYS appreciated! Thanks! | ||

| working on a custom box for my hondaright now actually, picked upa MTX 10" for 25$ off my buddy, had the two 6x9s and just need to save up for the two amps. I'd adding two 6" subs to the interior of the back seat (where the armrests are sorta) and tweeters on all four crossbars. lots of work ahead ofme, but i need like 800$ to switch it over to all kenwood audio. | ||

| Ooh nice it does sound like some fun man lol. At least you're getting everything matching. Best of luck on your install!I'm just throwing things together here..best bang for the buck type deal. All components I've looked into which are listed are just good for SQ. Not really into getting SUPER loud...but you know I wanna suprise people some times. I'll be getting a set of Rainbow SLC 6.5 comps soon. They've got good midbass, and are clear which I want. Got a good deal on em too so I can't wait! I also will need... Dash Install Kit Wiring Harness Speaker Spacer Rings Man anytime you mod something you always gotta remember to get those minute things which'll cost ya extra $$! | ||

| It's totally up to you, but I think you can get a lot better quality gear with that $2000 (with exception to the head unit). Front speakers 165CV1 6-1/2" 2-Way Speakers Rear speakers acaraudio.com - Premiere Car Audio Online Subs (x2) TS-SW1241D Premier 12 4 channel amp Alpine MRP-F450 4/3/2-Channel Amplifier mono amp MRP-M650 Mono Channel Class-D Amplifier Total around $1440 without sound dampening and other supplies. | ||

$2000 is including the Viper Alarm install too $500 Those are good products...but just a bit out of my budget. The Rainbow SLCs I've read are better than the focal components. Listened to a set of DLP MS6A's personally and the Rainbows are said to be above those. Hopefully all goes well though lol.

| I understand, I am piecing my system together too. While searching though I did find this fantastic (too good to be true?) deal on MB Quart Q Line components 6 1/2 5 1/4 Sounds too good to be true, but if it isn't I am gonna be kicking myself for not waiting on this deal as I only got the Premium line Quarts for a bit more than that. | ||

| The MB Quarts I've heard are a bit harsh. How much are you willing to spend on components? I've got a friend who is an authorized dealer (deals nearly every brand imaginable) and has great prices on everything. Let me know what you're looking for and I'll get some prices for you. He's the same person I'll be getting my p880prs from @ $320 shipped. (F*ck ebay refurbs haha) | ||

Well I have the 5 1/4 Premium line (PCE 213) as my front speakers and they are FAR from harsh. In fact, they have bright but not harsh tweeters and some of the smoothest midrange you will ever hear at that price. I have also taken 2nd place in an IAASCA event with MB Quarts in my old CRX Si.

| I'll remember to stay away from that line. Guess when you go all out for some audio you really need to shop around haha. Well at least we helped out that one poster on the audiobahn sub. Some things are just over rated/over priced. For what you can get with the $. | ||

| Update: 03-21-07: More gathering to be done! Just as a reminder this is the car that I'll be installing all the audio equipment into. I luvz me some bass fo realz hehe ballin'!!!! jkStock 2005-2006 ![]() How it looks NOW ![]() Oh man I'm suprised I've almost got everything. The only few things left to get are A LOT of sound deadening probrably from Second Skin Audio, 1/0 Awg wiring kit, and the Pioneer P880prs headunit. The alarm + custom box will be done by the installer so I will still need around $600~ for that. I've already ordered a set of speaker spacers and the 2 channel Pioneer amp to run the frontstage...Those should be coming in this week. For now here are pics that I took today of things that I've recently recieved. Okay I've got a set of component RCA cables. These will have to do since they're shielded and all that fun stuff. Cost was $40 for 2 of em. The dash kit from American International...and metra wiring harness. Both of which were $43 together. ![]() Next up are the Rainbow SoundLine 6.5 component speakers. AKA Rainbow SLC265. Got them used for a niice deal and they look great. Price was $185 orignally $230. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by JessAlba452; 27-March-07 at 10:40 PM.. | ||

| I have a different battery, not runnin 2. I'd rather do the Big 3 first ... then upgrade to a HO alternator before I buy another battery. I just bought it in October of 2006. But my friend who has a setup that uses more power than mine hasn't had any issues. His lights don't dim or anything without any electrical mods so I'd be a step ahead of him once the big 3 is completed. I'm just odd like that even if I don't see too much power being drawn I'd still mod the electrical anyways. s1ugh34d thanks for catching that, I was in a rush typing that haha! | ||

| ARGH!... lol Dont bother with a cap... they really dont make diddly-squat of a difference! (Check out Web search - they really know their stuff when it comes to car audio, many UK / European & World champions in many different disciplines on that site - this is a search result about capacitors...) Upgrade Big Three and you should be fine... may not even need the battery upgrade to be honest unless you are planning on booming without the engine on for long periods of time. By looking at your choice of parts im guessing you are pretty clued-up on your ICE... those are some luuuurvely Rainbows Glad to see no rear speakers or any other rubbish! Lovely looking system! What kind of box you building for the sub? Mark | ||

| Car Audio Capacitors: Why You Can't Do Without Them in a nutshell... its a poormans upgrade.. if you have no plans on droping $$$ on a bigger battery and a better altinator a cap is the way to go.. if you have a system that is pulling a constant of 500w+ rms you will notice that your lights and such will dim when a large bass note is played. I am not saying to buy a cap to get a louder system, just get one to releave the stress on the stock battery and alt. Edit. I read through the diffrent postings that you listed. in a nutshell, if you upgrade your wiring/battery/alt then a cap is a waste of money. That i do agree on. but if you dont have tons of money laying around.. an 85$ pheonix gold 1.5f cap is a cheaper investment then replacing a dead alt. another sugestion i would also wire in a kill switch for the amp. its nice to beable to kill your bass at a moments notice... and they are very easy to install... | ^^^ Wise word indeed... If i have one criticism of talkaudio its that you go on asking about a new fuse holder and go away with plans to buy 2 subs, 4 amps, new front end and a great big hole in your wallet! lol They are definately of the 'do it right first time' mentality which is great... but like you say... if you simply aint got the £££/$$$ then you gotta make do ![]() Mark | ||
