Was hoping no one would ask that lol, its a Turbo diesel. With petrol prices here at almost $2 a litre thats why there are so many diesels floating about, still quite quick though at 140ps.

I actually perfer diesels... I'm just a torque loving fool. Also they're easy to increase the power on, you just have to play with the fuel pump.

They lack the sound though My plan was for a GTI next but im not sure, the R32 would be nice also but its still wildly priced.

Thats still quite a bit of power for such a small car.

$2/liter? Wow and i thought i was paying alot. In Alberta it is around $1/liter now. I drive a '99 Gmc Jimmy with the 4.3L V6. its not the greatest on gas.

Yeah it would be roughly 95-99p a litre here, so with the dollar rate close to $2 a litre, its just mental. Diesel isnt much better think its roughly 85p a litre. A lot of people here fill their cars with red diesel which is meant for machinery & tractors, its about 40-50 p a litre, but if your caught using it you pay a fine up to 1K, the police have check points set up now and again and they just dip your tank

The other alternative here is an LPG conversion, basically a gas tank fitted under your car, LPG can be bought as cheap as 35-40 p a litre, the conversion costs roughly 1500 quid

So if you lived here and done plenty of miles you would have to consider an lpg conversion

Yep theres no doubt that diesels are quick, most cars I have owned have been diesel, the only thing they lack is a nice sound

I planned on maybe a GTI next but im not so sure, 2 friends of mine bought the new diesel Golfs with the 170bhp engines, the GT 170 can easy be remapped or chipped to over 200bhp, so same power as a petrol GTI with a lot more torque mmmmm.

Volkswagen UK > Models > Golf > GT

Dunno what to buy next.
