| i just purchased 2G of OCZ RAM to upgrade from 1G of Corsair. OMG, it's like i have a brand new comp. I generally have at least 2 browser windows open when i game, and the ability to switch apps without noticeable lag is night and day between 1G and 2G of RAM. Regardless of what the recommended hardware is for newer games, 2G of RAM is a necessity, imo. I seriously can't believe how much of a difference it made. | ||

| I've constantly heard similar things about using 2G of RAM - "It's overkill, you don't need that much." I am very happy to report that every single person that i've heard that from was dead wrong. In game, i get the benefit of vastly reduced lag in some situations (zoning into heavilly populated areas, for instance). Out of game, with the game running in the background, i'm now able to very quickly switch between apps with little to no noticeable slowdown (prior to this, my rig would really struggle with switching apps after i'd been running the game for abour an hour). So what that means is that when i minimize the game to hit the web and look up quest, item, profession, etc. info (or check GA ), i can do it with the same speed and performance that i'm used to recieving if i didn't have WoW running in the background.I'll put it in these terms: i was so fed up with my system lagging and getting bogged down (and i don't have a bad system) when i had an app like WoW running in the background, that i was seriously planning on giving and Intel proc a whirl on my next rig upgrade (for the multi tasking capabilities). I'm happy to say that popping an extra gig of RAM in my rig has completely gotten rid of my frustration ![]() Rig specs: A64 3400+ Newcastle Core (Socket 754) DFI Lanparty UT nF3 250GB mobo BFG 6800GT OC (video card) Antec True Control 550 (PSU) Western Digital Caviar 85G HD (8M cache) 2x1G OCZ pc3200 RAM (2-3-2-5)--->used to be 2x512K Corsair pc3200 (3-3-3-8) One relatively inexpensive upgrade (well, as far as hardware prices go), and i'm sitting on a rig that behaves like an entirely different critter under a heavy load (next upgrade is to a HD with a 16M cache ). | ||
