| So I have a game dilemma. Do i pickup COD4 or Crysis. I know crysis is the first real DX10 game and so I am building a system to handle it, on the other hand I am a big fan of Battlefield and Call of Duty games. What would you guys do?? Any insight into pros and cons of either game?? THANKS | ||

Because your old PC couldn't handle it? Its quite a simple concept :issues: Id buy Crysis, its simply brilliant. CoD4 is fun, but the SP is very short and quite repetitive. Depending on what your budget is and what size monitor you're running, to play Crysis in all its glory you should be looking at quad core CPUs and at least SLi 8800GTs.

| Becuase they want to waffles. Download the demo's and see which one you like better. COD 4 is absolutly amazing in my opinion. It's way better than even COD1. Even though the single player is short (6hours on hardend) the multiplayer is supposed to be really good. | ||

| Sempr0n? | Granted, I haven't completed Crysis yet (nearly...), [disbelief] but I'd actually say COD4 is better [/disbelief]. The single player campaign is short, but oh my, what a single player campaign. I don't know - maybe I just need to replay Crysis with a decent graphics card and some properly programmed drivers. And then I can gawk at it like a slack-jawed yokel, which is where 95% of my enjoyment in gaming usually comes from. I'd get both. They're both great games. | |

| I've just this second completed Call Of Duty 4, and whole heartedly agree with Reflux. The singleplayer is AMAZING. The missions are extremely varied, harking back to CoD2 (or 1, I forget) when you get to control the MGs in the tail of a bomber. Im enjoying Crysis so far, but Call Of Duty 4 simply wipes the floor with it if your looking for constant heart pumping action. And the cut scenes and story telling in CoD4... they're simple excellent. | ||

| well if you are into battlefield games than I would suggest crysis because its a really really pretty BF2... I guess it all depends if you are a multiplayer fan or a single player fan.. I'm a multiplayer fan myself. I know I will be purchasing both games but at the moment im definatly getting crysis. Also dont forget about orange box... its awesomeness | ||

| I just last night got CoD4 in the mail from my wife. Installed it and ran it just to "take a peek"... Crysis is on its way from Amazon[dot]com, so I will know in about a week or two how the two compare. For now, I'm still mopping the drool up off the floor from CoD4... The first mission (training/ship) was the bomb-diggity so far... I KNOW THERE'S MORE TO DROOL OVER... Just saying... PS: Dex - seems like you had a change of heart about CoD4... One post you're kinda eh about it b/c of the shortness, the next you're raving about the acion and storytelling... Kinda hard to say anymore, huh? Waffles - You MUST go get your peepers checked if you think that CoD4 and 1 are the same. A buddy showed up with the same rig as mine, with CoD1 and 2 on it, and we ran them side-by-side... If you'd like, I'll PM you the bottom line of the eye chart... | ||

I was thinking more along the lines of gameplay.

| By that line of thought, though, the only innovative FPSs would be Far Cry, Airborne, and Crysis (that I can tell so far, since I'm still waiting for Crysis to arrive). Honestly, though... I still have a copy of the origianl CoD, the expansion pack, and CoD2. Not playing them as much right now, due to work schedules and my eye candy lust for CoD4, but come on... CoD kind of threw a monkey wrench in the FPS genre when it was released, I would dare say. Not only did it seem to do WWII a bit better than, say, the MoH series, it also gave you the chance to "get a feel for" the other players in the conflict. CoD4, for all the faults I've heard about short SP storyline and whatnot, has put together a story that could be ripped from tomorrow's headlines, modern weaponry, etc. The end result, at least to this real-life soldier and weekend general, is a damned fine product, that stands head and shoulders above its series ancestors... Of course, feel free to disagree, that's what I'm here for... :stand-sal | ||

| Yes, I did change my mind on CoD4, pardon my free will! ![]() I wrote that first post having just mucked about on LAN for a few mins, and watched my housemate playing the SP, which looked really dull. Playing it myself, I realised it was fecking awesome. Nuff said. | ||
