Ok, after wiping the hard drive and starting over from scratch (don't ask...), I'm DLing the maps all over again...

Got all the instructions followed to the "T", so I will be able to positively let you guys know what i think of the maps... Hopefully within the hour or so...

Well, I downloaded French Town and Hill Siege. Hill Siege is a great map, but I can't get French Town to play properly - there seem to be invisible walls at certain points in the town that prevent me from moving either infantry or armour more than half way up the map. The enemy couldn't do anything either. Is the version linked here the latest build? I'm attempting to play with the latest patch of CoH: OP.

Dex, I had the same problem with the French Town map...

My solution (partial, at that) was to bombard the crap out of the buildings in the vicinity of the "walls" and then try to pass my infantry through on foot...

Biffy's Peril, on the other hand, was a lot of fun... Thumbs up to ya for that one...

Hill Siege... wow... did you make it so that certain strategic points are bombarded when either side try to take them?

Hmmm ill look into the French Town problems... it was designed to be restrictive, but obviously not totally unplayable...

Glad you're enjoying the others, I always enjoy Biffys Peril, play it Expert and you'll be fighting over the middle all day

And no I didn't design the points to be bombarded, its just an Axis special ability to stop you filthy Americans (or British now ) capturing their resources... and is very annoying!

One other thought:

While I usually play as the US, Biffy's is kind of terrain-limited, so I can either play as Infantry or Airborne, but not Armor (not enough room to build), unless there's some magical combination/placement of barracks/weapons support/supply point/tank depot that I'm missing...

I really like the Calliope MLRS...

EDIT: Nevermind about terrain-restriction... I figured it out eventually... :stupid:

Just had a look at the French Town map and you're right there do seem to be invisible walls... which was never the case as I remember it, I used to play that map a lot on the original game... maybe I broke something when exporting it for Opposing Fronts...

Anyway I can't seem to eliminate the blocks, even tho theres nothing in the editor, so... ya, will have another go another day.

So we gonna be playing some of your CoH maps if I come over next week? Or are we just going to rock First Strike?

Bumpity bump for the non GameApex users who havn't been keeping tabs on whats been going on over there

Got a new map in production for those that care, its gonna be a kind of standoff map (after hours of balancing) with some very WW1 trench style play (hopefully) where trips into no-mans land result in instant pwnage.

By standoff, do you mean bridges and the like?

I've really gotten a lot of fun out of "Seine River Docks", "Lyon", and "Montherme" from the original game maps...

Oh, and "Biffy's Peril" no longer seems to work for me... I think it's b/c of the damned newest patch they put out... It no longer shows up on my list of maps in Skirmish...

Yup, still there... I still get my fun, though... Pick Infantry Commander, then build and hold near the center (MG emplacement across the bridge covers the side), until I can bring the 25-pounders to "Show and Shell"...

Yo, Dex... What's up with that new map you were telling us about back in May? Home from Uni = no CoH for a bit?

Ah, im afraid having only brought my Eee PC home with me, im not in any position to make maps

So yes, being home from uni = no CoH for a bit = no map making.

Will be straight back to the mapping in August though
