Yeah, it's basically just Far Cry with a nanosuit. But it's better because they've moved on in other ways too I guess. The sound is great, very immersive. And the destructability of the environents is well done.

Do you guys hate Far Cry because it was hard or something? I mean, it was a really fun game.

You just have to get better, and try it on Realistic.

Thos f***ing pink mutant pu55ies were the one singular problem that ruined that game for me.

As soon as those weird pig-bull hybrid turbo-monkeys made an appearance FarCry was the perfect FPS.

In case you're worried about how well Crysis will perform on your new rig, it looks like it runs pretty smoothly at 2048x1536 assuming you have a Core 2 Duo and (single) 8800GTX running on Vista.

In an earlier article, it was reported that Crysis was running at 60+ fps for most of the time at CES 2007. In this new article, Jack Mamais tells techspot that the game is running at a resolution of 2048x1536. Judging by the HUD size in the images below, this seems like it's true.Combine that information with the fact that most of the code is still unoptimized, and you can easily understand how well Crysis will run. Take note that Crysis was running in DX10 at CES 2007, so could Microsoft's claim of 6 to 8 time the performance be true? If you read some of the earlier news items or read the techspot link posted below, you'd also know that Crysis was running an unknown core 2 duo processor and a single 8800GTX.

WELL FUNNY THAT.

Far Cry wasn't bad, well until those stupid ass mutants started popping up and bashing me 20 meters away, I only played until the mutants with guns appeared it just completely ruined the game for me. And on the difficulty, it wasn't that bad, the AI, IMO, wasn't too shabby, but what I found to be difficult was the situations the game put you in. An example, when you exited the ship from a "hole" and were surrounded, that took me a couple of tries. But that was not due too spectacular AI, just merely a difficult situation in which you had to plan a little, and with sloppy FPS it can get difficult to aim.

Yeah, same with Crysis re: situations.

When you first reach the ledge overlooking the enemy camp if you take it just the right way it's so easy, but if you make one wrong move it can become a little trickier. There is always the option of rushing in if you have the speed to navigate through armour, speed, strength mode and take everyone out in ultimate nanosuit style though!

See, that doesn't do anything for my hopes for Crysis. What I liked about the first part of FarCry, was the fact it was a semi tactical shooter with no nonsense. Having powerups and basically temporary superpowers is very offputting for me in FPS's.

Sounds like Rainbow Six is perfect for you.

Dude, I really don't mean to be an FPS snob right now, but temporary superpowers in FPS's have been around since the beginning of the FPS like berserker mode in Doom. Just throwing that out there.

Personally I love the sci-fi element of Crysis, but there's nothing wrong with having different tastes in games. Rainbow Six Vegas is awesome. And so is Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.

@waffles, I've gotten sick of Tom Clancy's games.

@joker, difference is Crysis is supposed to be semi-realistic while Doom and the like are not.

While it does drop the realism a little bit, you're FAR from invulnerable in Crysis, especially since things like the strength mod drop your armor

If you want realism, go outside or something.

Here are a few screenshots of my system running Crysis at 1600x1200
in DX10 with Very High Settings :-)

Also, T2 said the new 169.01 Drivers wouldn't work with his new 8800GT.
The Guru of 3D has a new driver 169.02 that is suppose to support the NEW
8800GT. I'm fixing to try it out with my 8800GTX's and see if it performs any
better. You can grab them here :-)

It's cold outside and aiming with a mouse is much easier

Not to mention the lack of save/load function and respawn.

Again though, isn't that the whole point of crysis, like a futuristic armor that enables you to do extraordinary things? If I'm wrong I'll shut up.. Its just what it looks like to me. Kinda like TimeShift..

damn you, Slay... Make me want to go out and spend, spend, spend... :furious3:

I got an idea: next time you start thinking I'm your hero or something, just send me a high-end computer part, and we'll call it even, ok?
