| Mutant Moderator | "Intel P4 2.4GHz "C" Model - An Overclocker's Dream! With most Overclockers using AMD processors, the big dark secret about the "C" model Intel Pentium 4 was slow getting out. Today I'm here to let the cat out of the bag, the Intel C Model P4 processors are the most overclockable CPUs we have ever seen! Over the years we have measured overclocking in tens or hundreds of MHz. With the C Model, we measure the overclock in GHz! All of you AMD fans must think I'm crazy. Being a big AMD fanatic myself, thought my partner Paul was crazy as well when he brought this to my attention. But after seeing proof of the overclocking potential on his i875 based motherboard, all I could think about was getting one." Link

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Not a bad write up, but I think some of his statements are a little off base. He makes it sound as though Intel hasn't had an overclockable chip since the Celeron 300A:
Seems to me that prior to the 1700+ JIUHB, the Northwood 1.6A P4 was the most hyped oc'ing chip in a very long time! Not exactly like Intel has been out of the loop.
Most overclockable? Everyone and their dog has got the 1700+ JIUHB to over 2.4 GHz. That is a 1 GHz oc. 1000/1463 = 0.68 Overclocked 68% of original cpu speed. He overclocked the 2.4C comfortably to 3.36 which is 960 MHz. So, not only is the total overclocked MHz (in this case) less than the average 1700+ JIUHB, but: 960/2400 = 0.40 Overclocked 40% of original cpu speed I am not trying to promote AMD over Intel ......... and the 2.4C is a brilliant chip, a great oc'er, and faster to start with. I would dearly love to have one on a canterwood or springdale platform. I just thought alot of his statements and conclusions were off base.
