Default Web News: AMD schedules 65nm Tyler launch for 2Q 2007

Quote:
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) will announce the Rev G Turion 64 X2 and Mobile Sempron CPU lineups, which will debut as the chip vendor's first 65nm-made mobile processors, in 2007, according to motherboard makers familiar with AMD's latest CPU roadmap. The Tyler series—replacement parts for the AMD Turion 64 X2 (codenamed Taylor) CPUs—will be launched in the second quarter of next year, noted the makers.
Compared to the Rev F reference platform, AMD's Rev G (resident in 638-pin Socket S1) supports 65nm silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology and, in addition, DDR2-800 memory, the makers indicated. The 35W Tyler will extend model numbers for the current Rev F Turion 64 X2—TL-XX, the makers said.
In addition to the dual-core segment, AMD's Rev G parts will also include the single-core Sherman series (25W) as replacement parts for the Mobile AMD Sempron (codenamed Keene) CPUs, which will use the same model number scheme as the Mobile Sempron, the makers revealed. Production of the next-generation Mobile AMD Sempron is set to begin in the third quarter of 2007, according to the makers.
AMD is preparing to switch production of all Turion 64 X2 and Mobile Sempron parts to 65nm process technology from the first quarter of 2008, the makers said.
