Default US senator demands RIAA subpoena details

Meet Norm "Napster" Coleman. Dont worry, he's is your friend. A Senetor from the state of Minnesota has requested copies of all the subpoenas issued by the RIAA blundering attempt to stop filesharing.

He is worried that the music industry has adopted a shotgun approach to the problem of music piracy and may end up taking innocent people to court who may have been victims of circumstance.

As well as wanting the details of the subpoenas, Norm – who confesses to having used Napster himself, though he may not have inhaled – seems a bit worried the courts won't be able to cope with the flood of law actions that might follow.

that there was my mayor.he ran first under the democrat flag then after starting his second term as St. Paul's mayor he switched to become a republican. to get the senate seat he now occuppys (i spelt that one wrong) he had to beat out former senator Paul Wellstone, (RIP plane crash late in the election cycle) then he had to beat former vice president Walter Mondale for that position

he is not and i repeat is not a native minnesotan he was born and raised in nyc but moved here with his wife

he also was one of the two career politicians that lost the governor's race to Jesse "The Mind" Ventura

the other was Hubert "Skip" Humphrey son of the former vice president Hubert H Humphrey

and that class was your lesson this week in Minnesota politics

Invent, I want to listen to music as much as the most, and I also agree that the RIAA is a bunch of money grubbing scumbags, but you gotta understand that this is what people do for a living, if you built PCs for a living, and 7% of them were effectively stolen, how would you feel, I understand both sides... I dont like when they take it out on kids tho (the 4 kids sued a few months back!)

Yes bushh, they go after kids who have downloaded like 100 to 200 mb at the most. If they had real courage they would go after users that share 300 to 400 gigs online. That why I called them gay!

No dude they go after the students who create the systems that allow users to connect. On my campus a student wrote a brilliant program that allowed all users (even macs) to search via a website the harddrives (shared sections only) of the entire network. His database even saved the listing of files that were on a HD so when that comp was off network you would still recieve returns! He was sued for some exorbenant ammount and had to shut down the system and drop out of school.... how ****ty
