The Verax Quattro 1 is a large squarish heatsink, accented by two specialized fans which produce barely a whisper of noise. Six copper heatpipes extend up from a large copper base through a cube of aluminum cooling fins, as is popular with many silent heatsink designs. A multi-socket mounting bracket makes it possible to use the Quattro 1 with just about any processor platform. The two Verax ultra-quiet CAIRdB fans are the real selling point of the Quattro 1 heatsink however, and under power both fans generate less than 31 dbA according to FrostyTech's own measurements. With everything inside the computer producing more and more heat, you may think of installing a cooler for your hard disk drive, especially if you have a high rotation model (7,200 rpm or above) in order to increase the lifespan of your HDD and, at the same time, decreasing the PC internal temperature, preventing it from overheating. Vortex is a hard disk drive cooler from Vantec that blows cold air from outside the computer case on the hard disk drive, decreasing your HDD temperature. It is available in two models and two color options (silver and black). The first model, VTX-CO1, has a digital thermometer and you can adjust the fan speed as hi, low or off. The second model, VTX-CO2, doesn’t have a digital thermometer but has a potentiometer than controls the fan speed. We reviewed VTX-CO1-SL model. If you want near silent cooling for your high end processor, the Scythe Mine CPU Cooler should definitely be on your short list of options. It didn't provide the most extreme cooling of all the heatsinks used during testing, but it did manage to keep a hot dual core Pentium processor at a safe operating temperature, even when both cores were loaded to 100% for a period of 24 hours straight. Based on the results, I was extremely pleased with the Sytrin KuFormula VF1 Plus. It cooled very effectively, whilst not whining or howling like a cyclone. It also (and from all reports) is extremely adaptable to many different card configurations. Whilst we cannot say whether or not the heatpipes are effective, in the end, it does not really matter, as the surface area of the fins, together with the ducting and blower fan all amount to a superb cooler. On the market you can find loads of different radiators in different sizes that claim they are the best. I have to say though that from my own experience the biggest is not always the best. We have a radiator on our test bench today from Swiftech. They sent us their MCR-120 radiator with a shroud and their special Swiftech mounting kit that we have reviewed before. We will compared this radiator to a BlackIce Extrem 2 and vs a Dangerden Radiator that is a bit bigger than the Swiftech and the BlackIce to see what type of performance differences we can see. Arctic Cooling manufactures a series of VGA coolers, divided into two series, Accelero and Silencer. Coolers from Silencer series pull hot air generated by the video card to outside the computer case. While coolers from Accelero series don’t do this, they are targeted to hi-end VGAs: Accelero X1 is targeted to video cards based on GeForce 6800 and 7800 series from nVidia, while Accelero X2 is targeted to video cards based on Radeon X1800 and X1900 series from ATI. We have already taken a look on NV Silencer 6, so now it is time for us to take a look on Accelero X1. There certainly isn’t a shortage of CPU coolers on the market, and they come in all shapes and sizes. They range from hard core coolers the size of a small house to inexpensive options for those on a budget. However, there are coolers designed for special purposes and applications. The NorthQ 3390A fits into this category. Measuring just 27mm tall, it is designed to properly cool a socket 939 CPU inside the smallest of PC cases, such as the Hiper Media Center case. People who build custom systems and cases will find good use for this cooler due to the looks, so it has a lot of potential to begin with. Unfortunately, as this is really the first (and unfortunately, maybe the last) BTX heatsink review, the Safari stands on its own. By that I mean that I don't know how it rivals the reference solution, or other marketed coolers. There is one thing I can tell you, though. The second you boot the PC, it's like somebody's slammed a NOS bottle hooked up to a Screamer. This fan gets frelling loud. Even as the fan spins down and you idle into windows, it still has a thick, powerful growl that's more than willing to turn into a whooshing whine at the first chance. In the endgame with all its Ups and downs, it came to a point where I'd rather listen to an infant cry next to my ear than hear this heatsink. Sorry folks! version of the Chipforce cooler, the JTS-0006. While the overall design remains the same, they have made some improvements; such as copper fins, copper heat pipe, and a blue LED fan. Let's take a look and see if these changes offer any improvement over the impressive previous model. Full Story at Bigbruin.com | | | | | | |
