When you look at the X1900XTX on paper, it really is an absolute beast. With clock speeds of 650MHz for the core and 1.55GHz on the memory, it is already clearly up there at the top of the pecking order when it comes to current videocard chips, but that's nothing compared to when you look at the fact one X1900XTX core has 48 pixel pipelines, 32 more than the X1800XT before it, not to mention 512MB of memory. When coupled together in Crossfire, you have a graphics system which has 1.3GHz of total 3D core power, 3.1GHz of total 3D memory power, 1GB of memory storage and 96 total pixels pipelines - ninety bloody six. Of course, as we all know, dual videocards doesn't really mean double the performance from a practical standpoint, so combining these specs is meant purely for shock value. Nevertheless, it is clear that combining two X1900XTX's together should produce some serious 3D power, and wouldn't you know it, we have two ASUS X1900XTX's right here so we can find out first hand. In this review Driver Heaven will be taking a look at how well the product performs in all of the usual gaming titles. In addition to this there will be in-depth testing at widescreen and ultra high resolutions, including advanced AA and AF settings and if that isn’t enough to answer any performance questions we will then take a look at the cards video playback performance of high definition content when compared to competitor part’s. Finally we will throw in a little overclocking to ensure that the benefits and downsides of the card are fully explored. The next iteration of Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Vista is due to release to the consumer early next year, and to big businesses later this year. Vista will bring a new GUI (Graphics User Interface) called Windows Aero Glass. The 7900GT and other Shader Model 3.0 parts are fully ready for the new GUI. Vista will also bring the next iteration of Direct3D, Direct3D10. overclocked model against the regular GeForce 7600 GT and also against other products available on the market, like GeForce 7600 GS and Radeon X1600 XT. If you take a look at the SLI performance graphs, it is first of all worth noting that there is a significant improvement when running two of these 7300 GT's in SLI – as much as 100 per cent improvement. Obviously the two 7600 GTs have the greatest performance, but most interesting is how the mixed card scenario has performance almost exactly in between the two. This shows how well GPU load balancing is working. Full Story at Trusted Reviews | | | | | | Diablotek 6600GT PCI-E Review | Quote: | | | | | Originally Posted by MBReview
One of the most popular products in the mid-range is NVIDIA’s GeForce 6600GT. This card offers excellent performance for the price, but it also allows for future upgrades and pairing with another 6600GT on an SLI capable board. It’s no secret that when two of these 6600GT’s are run in SLI mode, they obtain an excellent boost in performance, and can end up being cheaper than purchasing one high-end product. Taking the Radeon X1900XT card and improving it further with the powerful and silent IceQ3 cooler earns HIS lots of well deserved respect. Performance wise, gameplay was never less than spectacular with frame rates offering shudder free gaming even with the eye candy on without mercy. The X1900XT IceQ3 is the fastest card currently in the shop right now. Before I get flamed, yes I expect that a pair of GeForce 7950 GX2 would be faster but let's take a practical look at price tags. The HIS X1900XT IceQ3 is out and readily available now for around $440 on the street which is more than can be said for the 7950 GX2. The GeForce 7900 GT is one of NVIDIA’s latest entries in the high-end gaming market. Utilizing the revamped G71 architecture, this chip shares similar specifications to the almighty GeForce 7800 GTX, while being manufactured in a smaller micron process which translates in lower manufacturing costs, less heat produces and potential for higher clock frequencies. With all its shaders and ROPs intact the 7900 GT is in essence a GTX, if you were able to overclock it far enough. The GeForce 7900 GT is slightly faster than the 256MB 7800 GTX and in many cases as fast as the Radeon X1800XT. We are also throwing a last generation Radeon X1900GT card to see how that goes considering those two competing chips are evenly priced on the market now. The question remains however, what is gamers' best bet in this price range? The model sent into us for review by HIS is their “Turbo” edition which means you can overclock the card if you need some extra FPS. While not as impressive as other cards we have received from HIS in the past, you are able to boost the clock speed by 20MHz to 520MHz although the memory clock speeds stays the same, 500MHz (or 1GHz DDR). It does seem like the Radeon X1800GTO is already pretty maxed out as far as clock speeds go so don’t expect too much when it comes to overclocking. Today we have the last card in our HIS X1300 series of reviews; the X1300 dual DVI 512MB PCI Express. Unlike the previous two cards, this X1300 does not feature the IceQ cooler and instead uses a passive cooling solution. This is most likely because this card is not a part of the "Turbo" line of HIS cards meaning that it has received no overclock and comes at the normal X1300 speeds right out of the box. The core and memory speeds on this card are the typical 450MHz and 250MHz (500MHz effective). You don't need an SLI certified motherboard for it and it'll work with almost any modern chipset board supporting PCI-E. Full Story at t-break
