The spec sheet for the Biostar TForce 6100 AM2 reads like a check list of things you'll actually need in a computer; Gigabit network card, 7.1 channel audio, Geforce 6 series graphics, two Serial ATA II (3.0Gbps) channels and two IDE channels (thanks to the nForce 410 Southbridge). If you find the integrated GeForce 6100 videocard is too weak, there is a PCI Express x16 expansion slot for stand alone videocards. The four DDR-2 DIMM slots can accommodate up to 4GB of DDR-2 400/533/667/800 memory, and of course the motherboard supports Socket AM2 Athlon64 X2/FX and Sempron processors. GIGABYTE has done an outstanding job in most respects with the M57SLI-S4 motherboard. Performance on the board was below that of the nForce 590 SLI board, but that is to be expected as the 590 is the enthusiast model and the 570 is the mid-range model. Feature-wise, the board has everything you would expect from a modern motherboard today and will perform well for most desktop applications. Overall a very satisfactory product for the mid level enthusiast or gamer. Although the new AMD platform can do perfectly well with the older chipset solutions, ATI and Nvidia released new sets of core logic supporting CrossFire and SLI. Today we are going to take a closer look at these solutions and their newly acquired features. C19-A SLI is a socket 775 motherboard from ECS based on nForce4 SLI XE chipset, which is a new version of nForce4 SLI Intel Edition from nVidia, correcting its incompatibility with Pentium D 820 processor and also adding support for Intel high definition audio. ECS C19-A SLI apparently offers an excellent cost/benefit ratio, let’s see if this is true in our review. Let’s check it out. After the recent AMD pricing changes the 'old' 939 processors pack a great price versus performance value on a mature platform. The question we answer in this review today is, "Is the abit AT8 32X the board to buy if you are staying with s939?" However, there are some layout changes that we would have made before bringing NVIDIA's reference design to market. We would have expected the area around the CPU socket to be more spacious and we also highlighted some improvements for an otherwise impressive BIOS. These changes would make Foxconn's C51XEM2AA motherboard appeal to a wider range of enthusiasts. If you can live with the highlighted weaknesses (or they will not affect you), we are certain that this board will serve you well. The M59SLI-S5 is not based on the much lauded NVIDIA reference design that was sent out in Foxconn garb last month, though it does use the identical chipset and comes packing very similar features. What is important to note is that this board supports all of the new features found in the 590 SLI MCP, although it does not include the NVIDIA BIOS that 590 SLI reference boards ship with. Gigabyte did not send this board to us in a retail package and included absolutely no documentation, but we can confirm that the board that they sent us for review matches the specifications listed on their website for the production unit.
