Antec has created a PSU using a combination of the newest technology combined with technology from eons ago. They have created a series of PSUs with casings that have been molded into a giant aluminum heatsinks. The Phantom 350 has no fan whatsoever and the Phantom 500 uses what Antec calls “Hybrid Fan technology.” According to Antec, these PSUs “generate less noise than a mouse. The chinese manufacturer Sansun isn't too well known yet, because they are a rather new company. If they continue delivering such solid products, I'm sure that this will change in no time.
For a price for which you often get only a plain and unsleeved power supply, Sansun is giving you dual 12V rails and a modularity feature which is usually found only on much more expensive PSUs. All cables are sleeved as well which helps keep your case look clean. Also the important qualities of a PSU like voltage stability and fan noise look good. One concern with modern PSUs is the ability to provide enough solid power for two video cards at the same time in a system. I mounted two CD-ROM drives, 2 7800GTs in SLI mode, a FX-60 CPU, 2GB of memory and a SLI motherboard and ran the system for 3 days. Stability was excellent and no problems were seen during the testing or daily use of this power supply. The picoPSU has received a good deal of attention since it was shown off at CES just a few weeks ago. Pictures of the tiny 120W unit have been featured on numerous websites, but what about the performance? Testing revealed that the "world's tiniest 12V DC-DC ATX power supply unit" is no weakling, and that it can provide ample power to keep a Mini-ITX system running reliably.
