Exclamation Thermal Paste Shootout

OcPrices.com throws together some of the markets best Thermal pastes, and comes up with some rather odd results.

"Thermal Compound is a very important part of any computer system. No matter how polished your cooler is, or how leet your lapping skillz may be, there will always be microscopic pits that need to be filled. The performance arena has long been dominated by arctic silver, who have built up an enviable reputation as makers of the best stuff you can buy. However I have some tubes from less well known manufacturers just waiting to steal away the performance crown."

That Shin Etsu G751 stuff kicks a$$. Isn't that the stuff AMD says you have to use to keep the warranty intact?

No...that's Shin Etsu G749 that AMD uses. In reviews 749 hasn't scored nearly as well as the 751.

I am surprised at the relatively huge difference in temps in the review. Seeing as the manufacturers list the thermal conductivity of 751 much lower than AS3. That would mean the thermal resistivity would have to be much lower...not gonna happen. Or it just thins out and fills gaps much better than AS3.

But it is certainly on par with the best out there. And quite a bit cheaper than AS3 if you can find it. It's manufactured here in Phoenix, maybe I can get a hold of some.

thanks for the clarification AnitM

Though i also did notice that that review did not let the Aritic Silver recommends that ASIII be allowed to set for 100+ hours for achieving best temps, somthing this reviewer did not do.

But it does look like that Shin Etsu is pretty good stuff
