The group, which has been a champion of the little guy in the face of technology behemoths such as Microsoft, is shifting some of its nonprofit functions to a new private company. Frank Hecker, policy director for the Mozilla Foundation, said that the move will allow the group to focus on overseeing the development of new products built largely by legions of volunteer programmers. The offshoot, the Mozilla Corp., will be responsible for marketing those products and distributing them to consumers.
