Exclamation Web News: R520 delayed? Probably not

Other things are more problematic

Quote:
THERE HAVE BEEN RUMOURS floating around about the R520 being delayed, and speculation runs rampant about what 'delay' means. Here is what we've heard, and the story has not changed since about E3, so any delay is either old, or has not reached our tender ears yet.
The story then, from reliable souses - it was at a bar - is that ATI is pretty much done with the chip, but yields on the current silicon, A1 stepping, are pretty crappy. There was a new bun in the oven, this one called A13 that was slated for the waning days of July, with a few improvements likely in addition to the raised yields.

I don't understand why ATi is having so many problems with manufacturing. ****, where I work we don't have this delay bull**** ATi seems to consistently have. It's not that hard to stamp a BGA. Although if I remember correctly they're attempting a .13 or .11micron die manufacturing process so I can see where that would be tricky.

They are getting pwnd by nvidia, soon as they make something...nvidia puts something faster out before ATi can ever start production on their slower chip.

PWND!

They're suggesting an August release....I recall reading up on the fact that not only were there wafers faulty, but theres very low yield on them....which process are they at now? 110 or 90?
