Techspot and the Register has reported (probably off each other) that the new Pentium M CPUs have been seen on sale, boxed, in Japan. This is over a week before their official release, which is certainly fast moving considering the Video Chip markets' definition of "release".

It's no great surprise, of course. With 'Sonoma', the second generation of Intel's Centrino platform, due to be launched next week on the 19 January, the chip maker has been shipping the key components to PC makers in plenty of time to allow them to begin selling machines on the big day. | | | | | |
