Apple to make $499 Mac, $99 iPod

Then they'll have proprietary connectors for all I/O and you'll have to spend another $1500.00 to get them.

Or, buy a Dell P4, 2Ghz+, with printer, monitor, etc, for $500...

I am actually thinking about those iPod shuffles though. I wonder if it has those weird buttons though. Never liked those.

Spectrum's got the idea, although maybe it's not cute enough or something, I don't know. If I ever had a chance of buying an apple product, it faded when my friend's iPod's wheel broke after one week, and he learned it costs 60 dollars just to report the problem

I wonder what kind of battery life that mp3 player gets?

pff... that shuffle does not impress me when compared to its compeditors with OLED displays.
the macs arent that proprietary since most stuff you plug into it is USB and the monitors are dvi out. still for what macs offer they are apparent pretty boxes now. 512 megs of ram in a $2000 box with no monitor? at least it has 2 cpus. now this $500 box challenges the mini itx and other sff pcs. i wonder how fast it is. well its a mac so you wouldnt be playing games anyways being busy with art and what not.

Lets get a mugshot of the micro-daddy:

At a short looks, its smaller than a shuttle zen, and about 1/4-1/2" bigger than a typical external CD/DVD burner. The front IO port capability is staggering...and wheres the on button?

Theres going to be someone who puts this into a Midi tower along with a regular PC in a short while Im sure.
