Web News: Microsoft Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus Releases May Be Near

Last month Microsoft purchased anti-spyware maker Giant Software, which further fueled speculations concerning its anti-spyware and anti-virus products. How and when Microsoft will release these security devices is not known.

	According to developers familiar with the project, Microsoft has started informing partners of its "A1" security subscription service. While it's been known that the company was developing some sort of anti-spyware and anti-virus products, Microsoft would not say how the projects were coming along. Information that has begun appearing on blogs and pro-Windows sites, says an anti-spyware beta will appear as early as in a week's time.

I just checked out the BETA release and the first requirement is to validate your copy of Windows to see if it is genuine. However, you may choose not to validate your Windows and still obtain your requested download of the BETA release. They say that during the validation process that they do not collect any information, such as your name or e-mail address.

I guess right off the bat they will lose to the millions that don't want to registor their *cough* "legit" OS.
