| The chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary said Thursday that a ban on file-trading networks is urgently required but agreed to work with tech companies concerned that devices like Apple Computer's iPod would be imperiled.

| Rep., Utah; is now the biggest a$$ the Senate has since Helms and Strom Thurmond have left. If it has to do with technology, he sticks his head in the sand and proposes the stupidest possible solution. His staffers must like jerking his chain and making him look like an idiot. He'd hold a teleconference [on a telephone...] with the media to describe legislation to ban telephones so people will quit pulling the 'Prince Albert in a can' joke. That is of course if the grocers' lobby has ponied up. -MF | ||

| Like I mentioned in another thread, this won't be worth the paper it's printed on as the Supreme Court will slam dunk his stupid ass over something as asinine as this. The Induce Act basically states that you cannot provide a service which would "induce" others to commit a copyright crime. This would not only affect P2P networks, but would also ban the sale of such items as cassette recorders, video cassette recorders, DVD recorders, photographic cameras, videographic cameras, and any and all means of electronically recording copyright material. The same companies within the RIAA (Sony, for example) is doing nothing but biting it's own tail because this would prevent them from selling their line of VCRs, cameras, etc. This isn't going anywhere. Our Congressmen as of late have grown ignorant as to the true purpose of what our government should be all about (the Patriot Act is a prime example of that). Every year, partisan politics have taken precedent over common sense and it's driving this country straight to hell. I would love to see the day where any politician is willing to stand up for what is right, even if it means the end of their political career. Seems to me they are more worried about trying to stay around for as long as they can instead of doing something for the common good of this country. Rob | ||

If they do the right thing they just get assasinated, or pushed out under the weight of the cash money. Moving to Europe is looking better, and better everyday. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
