Exclamation Web News: Intel chipset problem puts PCI Express VGA on hold

Chips and cards are waiting
Quote:
INTEL REALLY CAUSED a problem with the delay of its long awaited PCI Express chipsets due to the south bridge production problem. All 915 and 925 boards were temporarily withdrawn due to this nasty leaking issue that can kill your RTC and BIOS battery on your beloved motherboard, but as we reported all chips produced after 14th of June have this problem fixed.

Still, apart from the Japanese market, there are few if any boards shipping in retail until Intel finally gives the green light. If you are a reseller, you don't want to be responsible for dozens of RMAs and to have to claim them back yourself.

This definitely affected manufacturers' VGA plans, as we've spoken with many manufacturers of cards and they've decided to hold the shipments of PCI Express cards at least for a week or a two.

well it had to happen at some point - the lga sockets got 20 re-insertion limit, the tejas was cancelled, the chips were bugged anyhow, the ram and supplys are few and far between, and now the pci express has fouled up.

...just another day in the intel office - you dont recon they have any contact with a certain mass software monopolising company that makes similarly bugged and unsecure software do you?
