Question Web News: Microsoft SP2 will run on pirated Windows XP

I'm sure alot of you might know, but this is just the offical news. Read on, it does make sense.

Quote:
MICROSOFT IS SET to release the new Windows XP service pack (SP2) for all XP users – that includes users with pirated copies.

Product manager Barry Goffe told Computer Times that Microsoft "haven't explicitly done anything to SP2 to exclude it from pirated copies". Whereas SP1 had features built in to prevent pirates from downloading it, the SP2 patch can be installed on all XP computers.

so judging from this... they can't really stop the use of pirated copies... otherwise they would have done something. OR... they are letting pirated copies use the service patch because they put some kind of spyware in there to see who you are so they can come and get you??!?! hahaha

I've heard this from somewhere, that if you install a pirated copy of XP that you only have 90 days before microsoft realizes it through registering it. So technically, if you don't register it... ever... you should be fine?

Knowing how evil Micro$oft is, they'll probably monitor you and once you use another product other than Windows XP, that is pirated, bam! Here come the commandos!

Not condoning this or even suggesting anyone do this but if you think about it MicroShaft made it very easy to still Windows XP. They *REQUIRE* that you put the damn sticker with the activation code on the outside of the PC - BestBuy, CompUSA and a digital camera or picture phone = free Windows XP. Maybe theyve just realized they cant stop it - they can keep the honest people honest but history dictates they cant stop it. They will *ALWAYS* find away around it.

My take of this would be that microsoft chose to fix their OS instead of takin on piracy.
