![]() Good news for AMD(finally). AMD is said to be extending its its 333mhz FSB to future Althlon XP 2600+ chips. In addition to this AMD also plans to bring its .13 micron Thoroughbred core all the way down to its entry level 1700+ proccessor(which currently uses the .18 micron Palimeno Core) "With the reported two new strategies, AMD may be able to reduce production costs for its Athlon XP line and at the same time expand market acceptance for its higher-end products. Though currently its Athlon XP 2600+, 2700+ and 2800+ are still quoted at relatively higher prices, the market predicted that AMD is likely to cut prices to a more competitive level after Intel introduces its 3.06GHz Pentium 4 processor on November 14, which may in turn help boost Christmas buying." | Yah I heard about that about 1 month ago lol. The "REAL" question is "WHEN". Because AMD is starting to suck at shipping out new stuff. Or maybe I"m just impatient. Overall, they announced the 2700 with 333 front bus mid september, stating it would begin shipping mid to end november. Well, mid november is approaching, and I"m barely seeing any 2600 +'s... They are there, but most I see are OEM. I'd really like a 2400 with a 333 front bus. Or a 2700 with 333 front bus. But all 333 bus models seem like they'll never get here ![]() | ||

| Quote from where I ordered mine: "we are shipping nov 8th"...I hope that's true. XP2600+ w/ 333fsb Newegg has already pulled their listing for it. The ad lasted less than a day. Must have pre-sold what they have ordered real fast. Most retailers are saying 11/7 to 11/18 for availability. | ||

| is it just me or is this just not that exciting for OC'ing? Lets say you have a 333mhz FSB athlon 2600 versus a 266mhz FSB, what is the easiest way to OC your amd cpu? fsb, right? so correct me if im wrong, but if your multiplier is locked that 333 cpu wont oc for crap, gonna mean you better grow a pair and mod your chip once again we are blinded with numbers, now 512 of L2 on barton, those are some numbers i wanna get smacked in da face with | ||

| It means it will run faster out of the gate with no OCing. That doesn't suck. And I've seen some very impressive numbers from a unlocked chip on a pre-production nforce2 board. Hell that's why you buy AMD right? Because you can still unlock the cpu and overclock the crap out of it. FSB alone is for wussies. lol | ||

| yeah antim, but people like you and me are not the majority. there are a lot of newb OC'ers out there who think fsb is the only way to go, and yeah the 333fsb cpus are badass, dont get me wrong, i just dont think they are the be all end all everyone thinks they are. | ||
