Doom III Alpha Leaked!

Apparently someone has let the cat out of the bag. A very early alpha Doom3 has been leaked over the Internet and is spreading like wildfire. Rumur has it that the leak apparently came from ATI. The Alpha is supposed to feature 3 levels from Id Softwares up and coming blockbuster.

John Carmack confimed this fact himself on Slashdot last night, but would not release any further info on who the culprit was.

"No, this was not leaked on purpose.

Yes, we are upset about it, and it will have some impact on how we deal with some companies in the future, but nothing drastic is going to change in terms of what support is going to be available.

Making any judgements from a snapshot intended for a non-interactive demo is ill advised.

I heard one of the guys that got it had a 2.5 GHz Pentium 4 and a ti4600 and only was getting 40 fps max.

Yep, thats the thing we got to remember, this was only an Alpha, and was not meant for realease and is no way done and should not reflect on the original game.

Anyone here got it so far??

^^ that guy was hidden in the shadows, I had to shot with a shotgun to illumiate him

renders nice on my g4 ti4600 but still only a max of 40fps

Looking forward to DOOM 3. I was hooked on DOOM 2 for quite a few months. Those graphics make my mouth water, mmmmmmmmmmmm Monster guts. Anyways yeh, I'm so excited. I'm also waiting for Simcity 4 to come out, it looks amazing, gona need a new computer to run that game, not even my dad's will run it.

I dont know if any of you guys saw it, but the Screen Savers on techtv, actully air some in game action from the Alpha. Level 2 i belive. I bet id must be pissed at them, LOL

Wow... the Doom3 alpah is SHARP... but let me tell you... if this leaked alpha is any indicator of how the game will run then you better start saving for new gear now. on my system, Atlhon XP 2400+ OC'd to 2313MHZ with a GF4 Ti4200 OC'd and 1GB DDR400 RAM the game runs pretty choppy at times. I should have my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro back from RMA soon and I will let you know how it runs with.

The details in the game are phenomenal. The dynamic shadows rock tha house! Maybe I will put some screenshots up soon... =]

Looks awesome! I'm downloading the alpha now.

Man 18 FPS with Sir Shaw's rig with a Ti4600.

That is going to take some serious horsepower to have all eye candy turned on.

When Doom 3 comes out it will be time for a new PC anyway.

Hey Viper, if you get the chance after you've dl'ed it, could you post or pm me some of the FPS stats you get? I am building a rig very similar to yours, and I can't decide wether to wait for "better" stuff to come out..
