THE LATEST issue of Business Week tells a sorry tale of the progress so far of the Tablet
PC which, apparently, is continuing to sell not very well at all.
NEC cut the price of its Tablet
PC by 25% just before the holidays, while the other major players – including Acer, Tosh and Fujitsu – are struggling to fix the gap between promise and bitter, bitter tears.
WhatÂ’s curious about this is practically nothing. Most hacks thought that the machines were pitched at too high a price, and according to Business Week, the MS operating system for a Tablet
PC costs nearer to 10 per cent than the five per cent Microsoft charges for its notebook OEM sales.
