MANY PEOPLE THINK that Microsoft and Intel are like love and marriage, but an article earlier this week from the New Scientist shows that Chipzilla has always got a sting in its tail.
Intel engineers told a hack at the mag that within five years time there may well be microprocessors capable of running Windows XP, Linux and Apple OSes all at the same time.
As always, Chipzilla has a codename for this technology, but it's not "we hate Redmond", but something far more neutral.
Currently, Microsoft has a bit of a grippe on Intel and its "hyperthreading" technology, because the Vole is into software licences while the Zilla is into
CPU sales, which don't always square with each other.
So what better way to wind Microsoft up? Meanwhile, Volesters that still talk to the INQ are always moaning about Chipzilla's gross margins, which are way too high, it seems.
On the other hand, Microsoft used to complain about HP's margins on ink and consumables. But we suppose that's a thing of the past...
