Post Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne Hands-On Impressions

New game review. Max Payne rocked. This will be the continued and it looks good.

The game starts on a stormy night outside of a hospital in the graphic novel style cutscene that we've come to recognize as familiar piano strokes resonate in the background. Max Payne sits in a mansion with Mona Sax preparing for his fall. His gritty and torn voice gives narration and moves the setting from the present to earlier that night, where we see Max recovering in a hospital from gunshot wounds and more. He comes awake and puts his clothes back on as the game cuts to an in-engine prologue much like the first game did. This floor of the hospital is eerily quiet. In the next room lies the body of a dead man laying on the floor, blood strewn across the room. Max stumbles through the hospital and down the elevator only to be confronted about committing murder by detective Jim Bravura, who is promptly riddled with bullets by a dirtbag carrying an uzi. Max narrowly escapes and winds his way to the morgue. There lies the body of a woman that he has murdered. This night apparently did not go well. So begins Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, the next chapter in the history of this family man turned vigilante cop. After getting a quick tour of the prologue, we had the chance to sink back into the trench coat and bathe it in the blood of New York's underbelly in the first two chapters of the game and a new mode of play.

Full review.
