The name change was a step forward for women's equality? It's all about marketing. That's why there are girls in the shirts instead of guys. The majority of the members are male. The women who frequent these forums realize that and even have a little fun with it at the guys expense now and then.

Zeros, when I look at that post I see nothing at all that indicates a joke. I think Foe was quite straightfoward and honest in her reply.

Damn.............quite a marketing tool...........makes me want to buy "Lock....Stock......& Barrel".....

Well, I thought part of the name change (and the seeking of a mascot which wasn't a complete hentai-reject model) was in part to make it a bit more attractive to the female potential audience.

I've seen excellent female modders, and I have to assume the attitudes in some places don't exactly beckon them.

On the off topic of digging, To set the record straight as I've read and seen.
The name change in my opinion was unfortunaqtly needed, Why do I say unfortunatley? because when a web site that grew to such a huge stature among the pc modding community not only due to it's EXCELLENT base of very supportive and helpfull members but also due to it's very name, is forced to change it's name because of the other bad influences on the internet. THAT I call unfortunate.
I never thought of "Pimp Rig" in the sense that the members promoted prostitution or anything even remotely related to to it.
The name "Pimp Rig" made me think of "Pimp my Ride" or just plain modifiying the livin snot outa your pc.
Now as far as changing the name to PcApex due to offending the female modders out there... well to be honest there are not alot out there. No offense but it's true. Modifying anything from a car to a computer to make it faster,better, flashier than the way it was IS a male trait.
I have been married for 12 years now and have the absolute utmost respect for women! so please any female modders don't take offense.


Anyway... my point is the name change was solely due to the fact that the word "pimp" is a target name for filters that prevent school and bussiness people from viewing this site. Also various sponsers have been shying away from any names that may even remotely have a chance at offending the female public.

Lets face it WE forced the name change. we think we live in a utopian society where nothing should offend us, and if it does it should be cencored or outlawed, it may not have been the actual members of PcApex but in our ignorance have allowed this "no offense" attitude to proliferate. Hence "Pimp Rig" is now PcApex.
It was a smart needed bussiness move. Thats all no more no less brought on by none other than the people we live with.

I apologise for this rant, but it seriously bugs me when another successful enterprise is forced to bend to the will of the society that helped make it successful in the first place because we now are offended .

The previous rant is my opinion only! I felt the need to voice this opinion. If any are offended I'm sorry.
