| How about somethign like this? (Forgive my crappy Photochop skillz )I'm not really sure about mounting everything yet, but I'm working on it, just wanted to get my entry in before the deadline. Basically, for the inside I'm working on a cage that can hold everything (since nothing would be able to mount to the sides of the case). Unless I just recessed parts of the circumference so they were flat and the user could mount the PSU and whatnot (actually, I'm more concerned with access to the I/O part of the MB, but that could be handled in the same way, I guess). It would probably also end up having to be a Mini-ATX case, but I like that. Anyway, here's what I'm thinking (I've not seen it before, but it's quite possible that its been done before, sorry if it has) Of course, the design could be any rim style that the creator wanted, this was just a simple enough one for me to chop in time. The actual rim part would be the aluminum or steel of the case, with the black parts being acrylic, smoked or clear, depending on what you wanted. I'm thinking maybe just some basic modders mesh to simulate the tire, not quite sure how that would look though. Any ideas on this or the mount cage would be appreciated. EDIT: Updates with newer ideas. Last edited by pwrslyd; 24-March-06 at 07:27 AM. | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Hi folks! Hopefully this competition is still open!? Anyway....here are 2 pictures from my son (he isnt a member yet, because he wasnt sure whether he might join from the same computer that I am already a member here?). He made them in good old Paint...and later added handwritten comments....here you go... Its actually an oval case...with 4 120mm coolers in 2 tubes, which are closed in the middle in 45degrees angle....so that air is redirected up to some kind of 1st floor with up to 3 HDD's...lying on metal plate with tiny holes so that they are also cooled....and the same plate also has 4 bigger holes to let the majority of air above to other critical components. In front you have large control panel with ON Button, Reset button, hdd leds, temperatures info, voltage info and also USB, Firewall, Card Readers, speaker outputs and other goodies...below it....there are 4 fdd/cd/dvd/others trays which are normally hidden from outside view....but when some device is in use...doors open and i.e. dvd tray comes out....and closes when its closed later.... There is also an option for 120mm front fan below. At the back...you have doors which open 180degrees....allowing maintenance, conection of cables and stuff....and below them...there is a single exit for all cables (monitor,keyboard,mouse,camera,everything....) - providing much better overall view and handling that in "ordinary" case when all cables are one big mess. Inside...above the motherboard...there is a PSU...which takes hot air from below it and from front side....and pushes it out backwards. PSU's power cable also exits together with all other cables....at the lower back side. There is also an option to easily upgrade to water cooling...you just install radiator and pump below metal plate that holds HDD's...and you cool the radiator directly with those 4 already installed fans (they can be turned on and off from front control panel (or limit their RPM's to lower overall noise to minimum). Well that mostly all there is...and for more info...just ask...he'll gladly answer. Good luck to all! | |
