| It's time they invented a way to have an AIO box that doesn't suck. My design features two major changes: -A side (now front) panel with a standard wall-mount kit attached, so you can take your favourite 19" or 20" LCD and attach it. The rest of the case sits behind, like some of those small AIO machines I've seen from HP and Dell. -The motherboard mounts vertically. I'd expect improved airflow especially below the video card, especially with a highly perforated top panel. Since the case must be deep enough to accept a drive mounted front to back, it should be deep enough to allow large exhaust fans on the top as well. | ||

![]() If you don't already know about this little thing called Folding@Home here is some info about it. OUR GOAL Understanding how proteins self-assemble ("protein folding") is a holy grail of modern molecular biophysics. What makes it such a great challenge is its complexity, which renders simulations of folding extremely computationally demanding, and difficult to understand. The Stanford group has developed a new way to simulate protein folding. However, this method is extremely computationally demanding and they need our help. | Apex Techie Wannabe | ok, here are a few suggestions.... in no particular order..... Cut the PS hole out big enough to insert the PS from the rear. Add an adapter plate to bolt onto the PS and the case. This could make it much easier to install a PS, not to mention eliminate the chance of dropping it on the MB during install. In some cases, you can't even change the PS with the MB installed.... This would also make it easier to access the rear of optical drives that are close to the PS... ![]() Create an adjustable support system that bolts to the crossmember & helps hold the weight of some of those massive coolers. Can utilize bendable rods & tabs that attach to fan screws for different applications.... ![]() Clip-in or bolt-in channels in the bottom of the case to hide those unsightly front panel wires... could also include extenstions or longer wires (with braided looming) so even the part you see won't look so bad... ![]() Ok, that's all for now..... x | |

| the idea with the removable faceplate for the powersupply... you will find that feature on the high end cases.. as for the bar to mount the oversized heatsinks is an awesome idea | ||

| As promised the other sides to the case There are no such thing as rivets on this case all fans come with a stock mesh grill. Fans will be low speed high CFM 120mm, and a mid range 92mm fan with a user controlled 150mm (up to over 250 CFM). The front has a LED 150mm fan with LED knob controller sitting close to the bottom of the case. The case it self is wider than an average pushing 10in the four 5.25 drive bays across the top with the three FDD, HDD bays below them all left justified with a 92mm fan sitting next to them. The power and reset switchs located via lower left, with LED's in each for the HDD and Power LEDs. ![]() The back of the case will be modder love. With 11 PCI bays enough to hold all those handy tools like molex external adapters, and fan contollers, as well as external water cooling systems. With two 120mm fans stacked. The PSU being located at the bottom with a removable tray and metal shelf above it. Keeping most of the heat generated flowing out with the intake of the 150mm on the front. ![]() The top of this case will have a space for all those beautiful radiators temporaraly filled with a plexi window or just there for looks. All dependant on cooling system. with a 120 mm fan for CPU exhast. | ||

| Nice idea's I see here! Keep up the work! I've continued working at my case today, it's more or less finished. Still to do: some textures, the design of the extra feet for vertical position, the lock system for cards, changability to BTX feature maybe. The sizes are also petty much accurate, so it should be able to give you a nice idea. Specifications: ATX and E-ATX mobo 3x 5.25" drives 6x 3.5" drives 1x front connections (USB, firewire, ...) 4x 120mm silent fans (2 top, 2 side) 2x 80mm silent fans (@ rear) (possible to place 90mm I think, needed to try that out still) Case can be put vertical or horizontal ! (when placing vertical extra feet can be used) The cages are able to be turned to keep the drives horizontal. Cages attached in system without any screws. The little opening you see on the left is ment for the front connections, there is not enough dept for a floppy there (but hey, not many people still use it). And if needed, a 5.25 to 3.5inch converter could be supplied with the case. Positive and negative comments are always welcome! Last edited by Maxession; 08-March-06 at 10:06 AM. | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | heya TK, thanks for the props on the cooler support.... as far as the PS adapter plate, I actually have one of those on one of my high(er) end cases, but it bolts on from the inside... i've not seen one that bolts on the outside ![]() & kudos to Max on the modular 5.25 multi-positionable rack.... i actually have a really old AT case (adapted to ATX) that has that from the factory (not sure the brand), but i've not seen it anywhere else.... it actually has 4 drive slots in it, but the bottom one isn't full height for an optical drive... in that spot is a proprietary floppy drive .... i'm using that case to build an HTPC.... | |

| Xenocide, I can confirm that the Skyhawk MSR4600 series cases have a bolt-on-from-the-outside adapter plate; which is sadly not marked in any way so it's easy to install back-to-front. ![]() For a while, Gateway 2000 (and possibly other manufacturers) offered convertible desktop-tower cases... a cage consisting of 3x5.25 bays and 1x3.5 bay could be removed, turned 90 degrees, and reinstalled. It was like a first-generation ATX case (P166 and P200, no exhaust fan, 150 watt PSUs....) | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Feel free to comment on my ideas. IMO it would be nice to have a case with full mirror finish that you can even see your own reflections on it. Just like the back of the generation 1 iPods. Click here to see it | |

| Apex Techie Lite | Ok so this isn't the best Photoshop job but you'll get the idea. Also, I realize that this idea is not on the same level as the rest. It just more of a concept. I always thought it would be cool to pour a case out of a clear resin or acrylic to look like a block of ice. ![]() I'd use blue lighting through out and the surface would give a perfect distorted view of the inside. It would look as if all components are frozen within. This isn't exactly what I picture it looking like but again....you get the idea. ![]() Thanks for the opportunity to win a sweet case. | Ok I'll throw my hat into the fray here, since I'm all stoked on my new laptop I already "modded" an old briefcase to have all the features I'm looking for within my abilities. The case has a hinged platform that the lappy sits on when in transit and when in use, underneath the platform is storage for all the "other " stuff like mouse, converter, portable speakers and such. I addition I made a small "mouse pad" that clips on the edge of the open case for my trackball mouse. I'm planning on incorperating some convience lighting and fan cooling for tha lappy powed by a seperate battery. I considering permanantly mounting the converter/charger for the lappy to have the power cord plug in from outside the case, then I can tap off the 120v input to charge the auxillary battery for the fans and lights. Well it's not a drawing or even a pc case per se. but it does have to do computers. soo... anyway my camcorder is being charged now so I'll post some pics of the briefcase tommorow. Btw Enough has already been said but instead of taking the time to edit a photo of someone elses work so you could claim it as your own is very low! That time could have been better spent comming up with your own idea. Hell even if you had an idea to improve upon somone elses work, as long as you give due credit. It would still be your idea. I personnaly don't care if some one would duplicate my ideas as long as they don't try to claim them as their own. That my friend is called plagerism. Too bad this didn't happen on CM I'd have simply deleted your post and sent a pm idicating that if you don't come up with an original idea I'll simply have your butt banned. | ||
