The name change has been largely met with support from our members, yet there are a few who don't agree with the change. That's fine with me, you have the right to your opinion. But...

PimpRig was built by Gary Mullins. His small "Pimpin'" site expanded beyond his wildest dreams. He has realized so much success that he eventually dropped his career in graphic arts to devote all of his time to the site we call home. His sole support for himself and his family is now based upon his web endeavors.

When Gary saw that any future growth was blocked just because of a damn name, he did what any one of us would do if we were in his shoes; he removed the roadblock. By changing the name the site is now free to grow further and Gary will eventually be able to give his family a better quality of life.

That's why it bothers me to see that some have chosen to mock Gary and openly show disrespect towards him and our home. I see all these new avatars and signatures that make fun of the new site name and I have to wonder why would anyone who enjoys these forums try to destroy them? The last thing we need right now is a bunch of people making fun of the name since word has gone out that the site name has changed and many curious people will be coming here to see if it is different.

All of us should be making an attempt to show that although the name has changed, we still have the best damn community on the net. We should be showing solidarity to the outside and not showing that we openly mock the site owner. If you were a person who was aware of the old site and heard that it changed and decided to see it for yourself, would you be impressed to see that the members are making fun of the change? Hell no, you would laugh and leave.

Personally, I am offended and disgusted by the open disrespect that has been shown by some. It's not like you have invested all your money, time, effort into the site like Gary has. You don't have to ensure success so you can continue to pay the rent and feed your family. No, all you have to do is come here and enjoy the community. What the f*ck is the big deal about about someone wanting to move forward and continue the growth of a site that we all enjoy?

I would like all of you who have come up with a new name for our site to stop and think about what you are doing. Right now Gary needs our support, not ridicule. Right now we need to show that we are a great community and not a site where things are out of control. I'll tell you up front, if necessary I will take the steps required to stop it, but I would prefer it to be voluntary.

Nuff said.

I hope that you don't think my avatar/sig is inappropriate, because that's not why I created it. Sure, the "Ape" thing could be taken the wrong way, but in the interests of the site, I felt that it works out good. "APEx" overclocking...Apes are strong and all that. I thought it had a nice ring to it...same with Necro's whole "grease monkey" thing (hence my avatar of the monkey holding the monkey wrench).

If you want me to change it back, let me know. I didn't mean for any harm or wrong-doing with it.

I support this site fully Bk, I think this post was made a lil hastily as nobody here even dreamed of raising a rukus other than a few opinions.

we all support gary and are all still here to contribute no matter what. you could rename this site dirt, and we'd all change our nicks to Joe. Just a few opinionated people out there who Needed to vent a lil.

I honestly thought we had a new theme, and was for the first time pumped about the new name change. We could have all sorts of awards and names, to go along with it. Thats cool though if you dont find it appropriate. Maybe we should think on it though, afterall we do need a theme, now that were no longer pimps and hoes.

Although I havent been around to actually be attached to the Pimprig name....its what actually distinguished iteself from the rest of the random PC sites on the web....Its certainly why I wanted to join up. But, being a husband and "bringer home of the bacon"...I understand the need to expand in order to support one's family. Good choice, and I'll continue to be a loyal memeber of PCApex...

EXACTLY! A new theme, I guess, is one of the motivations behind my (as well as many others') sig/av. With "Grease monkey" and Team APEx, and all that, I (we?) thought it would be a great theme...along with a great inside joke to laugh about amongst the members.

I dunno, in the end, i'm not the one with the business-centric mindset. After all, I highly preferred the name PimpRig.

Nothing wrong with PCApex, though. Please don't get me wrong.

Instead of all the monkey horse-crap.............why don't we all think of a theme that would coinside with the new site name................other than APE-CRAP...........

I have to agree with you 100 % BigAkita on every word you said i had gotten a pm from GK ,and he was asking what would i rather have on my new and improved PimpRig Thingy under my name, he ask me would i like to have PimpRig.com or pcApex.com, i told Gary i would like to have the new and improved name pcApex.com under my name and i also told him i supported and stood behind him 100% on the new and improved website.

My job is to do what is best for the site. I am given a whole hell of a lot of leeway on how I am to accomplish that. Whether or not you think I am premature with this, it's my job here and my loyalty lies with Gary. Once you get a military man's trust and respect as Gary has gotten mine, you have a lot of support on your side.

I'm pretty sure that thread was all in jest, and I doubt anyone here was attempting to belittle anyone's efforts at building a more commercially viable website. These are stressful times and some people make jokes in order to cope with change.

Anyways, best of luck with the new name and the new image. You have my support even if I snicker at the ape jokes.

I for one, meant no harm in that thread. I thought we were just having a little fun. Perhaps we took it too far. If our comments caused any kind of offense to any members of the site, let me be the first to apologize. I know that none of us would intentionally do anything to bring detriment to this site, community, or Gary. I know that this is my internet home and that of many others and we do support what Gary chooses to do because no matter what the hell it's named, it's still the best damn site on the interweb.

I appreciate the support. We are at a critical point right now, and there are going to be a lot of other sites looking at us to see how successful we pull off a name change because their owner may be thinking of doing the same. Not only that, people who are curious will be stopping by to look. We don't need to leave them with the wrong impression. I predict that our site visit numbers will increase significantly Monday and Tuesday. I'll try to remember to post them for ya'll.

I wasnt BS'in ya at all. I thought it was a great idea, hell we need a theme, is what registered to me. I can understand the bad mood and all bro, but please believe me when i say that i wasnt playin around and i was serious. I left my opinion is all.
