Not at all, man. It doesn't take the place of the regular forums. It's a way to help GK generate some more revenue for the site (well deserved revenue, i might add), and he's throwin in some perks for the peeps that pony up the money. Don't be despondent, man...just save your change (etc.)

I do understand wit the conversion rate this is far more cash for you Canadians but get your panties in a bind man. Its understood that not everyone will or can afford it - nobody will exclude anyone. I havent even bothered visiting the "exclusive" fourm......theres a whole 4 threads in there. No big deal - DONT MAKE IT ONE.

Err, the last time I checked the conversion rates, the USD was doing worse and the Canuckbuck was doing better (and has been the trend, for many months). Over 80 cents to the dollar and increasing, so conversion rate or the amount of the cost has little or nothing to do with it. For me, anyway, the issue has to do with popup ads, even if they're sorta PR-related, for the reasons I already mentioned. To make it simpler, because some of the more recent replies I've seen here indicate people are not getting the message:

1) I don't mind spending $20 to help with the management of a very ambitious site

2) I don't mind even spending $20 to get "special club privileges", if that's what I want

3) I totally believe in helping GK out as he is totally deserving of it

4) I DO mind having to pay $20 to remove ads/popups/remove content implemented to negatively impact my browsing performance at pcapex.com...or having to implement popup blockers and such to defeat them myself.

Can you see the point now?

I don't really give a crap how much money you give PR... If you don't show a bit of respect for the members that have been here for years you will have a very rough time here. Coel is a long time member who's opinion is respected, whether for or against. He was here from the start and has the option of voicing his thoughts on where the site needs to go.

but youre looking at it from the wrong angle.
You're not paying to remove the ads, the ads are removed as a bonus for helping out.
You know GK, he'd pony up the whole thing if he could, he Hated putting banners up as it is. I know you remember how much flak he got when the first banner went up.
Now, he came up with a way to give back to the Pimps that make this place so much damn fun to be around. He figured he can take away one major pain in the @$$, the banners, from the Pimps here that have to deal with them the most.
So it became a bonus.
If you are willing to pony up and become elite, the least we can do is to remove that thorn from your keester!

The minute i have $70 to spare i will be buying a subscription (poor college student ). Why $70 you may ask. Because i need $50 to replace the cracked screen in my laptop. Then it'll be worth $20 just to be able to have more than 3 tabs of PR open on my laptop (not to mention premium content etc, but these flash ads are killer on low end systems). Stupid crappy town with 0 jobs...

Thanks for the gesture, it's appreciated. I only reacted the way I did because it didn't look like sarcasm (use the sarcastic smiley for that, )...and because some of us old-skoolers are prone to bite without warning. In time you'll get to know all of us and our good/bad habits, and show us your own. Hopefully you'll come up with some cool modding ideas and make this community even better.

As far as being "closer to the cusp of staffhood", well...heh, you're probably closer than me. I'd have to change my attitude too much to be considered staff, and I'm happier just being myself.
