Well, after many valid complaints about the PimpRig galleries were made I set out to find a better one. This new gallery is MUCH better... more organized, more features...

What features does it have? You can still post pictures via a web interface, you still can rank and comment submissions. What is new is that you can set the gallery to send you an email to notify you when someone comments on your submission. There are many more things waiting for you in the new gallery!

You can can access the old gallery via the Case Gallery image on the right column but it will no longer allow new posts.

What is the downside to this? The old gallery was completely incompatible withthe new one. If you submitted to the old gallery then please resubmit to the new one until I try to find a way to import the old one... (if possible).

Looks nice! Much easier to navigate, it really stream-lines into the site as a whole much smoother.

Cthulhu, something is wacky with the images you submitted. I had to delete them. Try to resave them as a .jpg and submit again.

Weird... what was wacky? The image is a JPG on this side and looks fine. I'll try re-uploading the same picture. Lemme know if it fails..

I just submitted my pic. I actually submitted it about 4-5 days ago.......I guess something didn't go through?

So If I understand the new format right, the gallery will only display one case by each submitter, but when you click that case you see the other submissions?

Will there still be a "top ten" by hits/rank etc?

putwig: it shows each entry seperate. If I understand the system right, each person can submit up to one meg of pics. You may have submitted it to the old gallery which is now going to go by the way side. Resubmit to the new gallery. Click on "Gallery" in teh top nav bar instead of the Case Gallery image link in the left column.

Yes, pics should be sortable by rank. I am trying to change it to a 1 - 10 option instead of 1 - 5.

I don't understand what is happening to my image!? It's a valid JPG over here, viewable by IE and every other proggy I have. Is there a maximum size limit to the image? This one is 169k.

@Cthulhu - I think the max size is closer to 90Kb (otherwise my pics would have been way clearer and larger!).

GK, you mind if we re-post our old mods? Or are you looking for all new stuff here? I am going to make a valiant attempt to finish my latest during the Christmas lull.

EDIT: One more thing, is it possible to keep a link to the old gallery and keep the pics available? PR had the 2nd or 3rd most extensive case mod gallery on the net. I remember when VH changed formats they kept the old gallery available, matter of fact after almost two years I think they still have a link to it. I just hate to see all that accumulated hard work disappear forever.

EDIT AGAIN: I'll send you a hard drive to host them on if space is an issue.

BA, by all means, resubmit your cases to the new gallery! If I understand correctly, the old gallery is still available by clicking on the gallery image on the right column...but it's basically a 'locked thread', not allowing any more comments.

I like the layout of the new gallery; I just hope it somehow resists the efforts of "joined up for a day" lameasses (if indeed there's more than one) and those who have contributed little or nothing of value to PR in our forums. I still think it's an idea to restrict voting/comments to those registered members who have at least contributed a MINIMUM to PR in the forums, and have therefore at least met & gotten to know the vets, and perhaps have gained a little respect for what we all have accomplished, instead of just jerking off (heh) from the relative safety and anonymity of their easy chair after registering a new nick just to mess around.

The number of posts would be your decision; I'd say at LEAST 20 posts required before being able to post comments & vote; maybe more if you agree. What does everyone else think? Should we let gallery leeches who don't know crap join for one day just to **** around with us?

i have to admit that i haven't been to the gallery in a LONG time.. i'll have to check the new one out. and i agree with Coel.. 99.9% of the time the only (pertinent) thing a complete noob (ie// no previous posts) has to offer for the gallery is "how did you do that", which would be better posted in the forums anyway. I do like that there is more then 1 line for comments now. that was a PitA...

What about setting the priviledge of voting the same as the priviledge of a custom avatar? 50 posts.

The only problem I see there, is that some of the most active Gallery people (like mundmc) have no forum persona at all.

Maybe it could be 50 posts or 50 gallery comments, and then you are allowed to vote?

Would get rid of the senseless slamming. It is disheartening when someone with no PR identity or affiliation can jump in and vote a case a one or 2 with no justification or explanation!

At least the new forum script tells you who voted what, so you can see that the guy giving your case low scores is posting for the first ever time.
