Long time no see cl0uder, I know you got P'shop skills but I don't remember much of your Flash work. I am sure it is "up to par" though.

No. This is simply a banner to use on other sites like here at PCApex. ![]() Great submissions guys! MUCH better version xLastShotx! I really like the feel of yours, boogityboo04. Unique yet attractive. I should have more info for you soon about any specifics they might like to see included in the ad. ![]()

| Well, thought I'd drop in and offer a little tidbit of help (oh, and check out the contest. heh). Since I noticed you guys are having to include HTML pages to keep your banners from ballooning in size, I figured I'd offer a way to fix that issue. If you paste the following code into the actionscript of the first frame of your Flash, it will no "balloon" in size without an HTML file (so you can just open the SWF directly in IE). Code: Stage.scaleMode="noScale"; ![]() | ||

| Apex Techie II | Hey Guys, I am new to this forum. This contest atracked me here. I never worked with flash before, but I gave it a try. I started working on it, but I ran into a problem. When I am in flash and I add text, everything is Anti-Aliased, but when I publish it, it is not. This really bothers me because then it looks all crapy and you cannot read the text clearly. How can I fix this problem? Here is a preview: | |

That is freaking awesome, when you sort out the bugs that will certainly be hard to beat. And welcome to PCApex, you'll be certain to enjoy yourself

| Apex Techie II | Thanks for the kind comment! It took me a long time to create that, because first of all I just started working with flash yesterday, and second, because it needs a lot of work (common sense) I need some help from somebody who uses flash so they could help me with that Anti-Aliasing problem that I have. Hopefully somebody will help! ![]() I am also not sure about the size. I know that the allowed size is 70kb, but what is the maximum? is it the 70kbs? When I first started I remember that the part where only the CPU fan is spinning was already 218kbs, and I managed to get it down to 163.9kbs with the whole movie. Hope that isn't that bad. | |

| Your anti-aliasing problem might be because you're using a certain textField type or you have a setting on textField set. If you're just trying to display a certain message, make sure the textField is set to "Static Text" (little drop-down bo on the left ofthe properties pane). Secondly, I recommend turning the "Selectable" option off, unless you actually want somone to be able to copy the text (little "Ab" button in the properties pane). Finally, if you want the text to be smooth, make sure the "Alias text" option is off, if you want the text to look more like it does in Word or Notepad, turn "Alias text" on. It's the button with a vertical line going through an 'A'. If you're using script-created textFields or need some more help, feel free to PM me. | ||

Thanks for the welcome T2, I am sure that I am going to enjoy it here. As for the case, it is awsome, and everything is cool, until today when I wanted to add my 80mm fan on the side, and then realizing when everything was open that I need a 92mm fan. I don't have that fan at the moment though.______________________________________ Thank you very much for your help Cheshiredemon. I had a lot of hard time in Flash since yesterday, but I figured out all the things like picture to picture transitions without covering up the other picture, and other things. Thank you for the Anti-aliasing help. I had my font on dynamic so that's why it was bad looking. Is the dynamic settting for urls and stuff like that? Here is the animation so far with the right settings. Hope you guys like it. Give me you feedback as well on things how I could improve my animation and or tips and tricks. Thanks.Last edited by peti1212; 09-July-07 at 10:23 PM.

| No problem. The dynamic setting is actually for creating textFields that can have their content and attributes altered with ActionScript. The banner looks pretty cool, but I'm not seeing any text. EDIT: wierd... I don't see text when I just open it with the stand-alone player, but it's fine in an HTML page... Might want to ignore my earlier "no HTML page" go-around if it's going to do that. Here's a great lesson in Flash: it can do some really WIERD things. heh. Last edited by Cheshiredemon; 09-July-07 at 10:51 PM. | ||

| Apex Techie II | What do you mean you are not seeing any text? What version of Flash are you using? Can you see the forzencpu.com and the writing below it? I think what you mean is that you don't see all the advertising texts. i am still working on the animation, and I'll add some more things tomorrow. ![]() Any advice on how to keep the File Size low? | No, I couldn't see that text either, but I think that might have been a gitch on my end, so don't worry about it too much (although I do advise including an HTML file to view it with since that fixed the problem on my end). File optimization can be done in both in the Flash's library and when compiling. Open the library (under the "window" tab if it's not already up) any images you imported should be in there, you can right-click them, then select "properties." From there, if you select "Photo (JPEG)" compression that tends to shave a bit off your SWF file. To really optimize the SWF though, you need to go to "publish settings." Once there, select the "Flash" tab. Make sure the "Compress Movie" box is checked, and then you can also lower the "JPEG Quality" slider to lower the filesize (but the result is a loss of quality of course). There you can also set the quality of sounds, should your Flash contain any. There is a third and final way to help your Flash to run properly if it's large or the machine is slow, and that's to force the movie to the "low" quality setting via ActionScript, but I do NOT recommend that except as an absolute last resort, because it tends to make your Flash look like crap. | ||

| Apex Techie II | Thanks for the great advice. I am redoing the whole thing but it will be the same animation, just with a smaller file. I figured out another way to keep it smaller, but only adding the areas to an image that are animated not the whole thing. I'll upload an update tomorrow showing how it goes, and how small I could get it with resonable quality. ![]() | |

| Apex Techie II | Ok Guys, I redone my whole animation, but with more thinking, and I managed to get the size down to 67kbs with the same quality. It's the same thing as the before ones, just with less bugs. Try it out and give me your feedback, so I would know if something is wrong on my side that I don't know about. It should come up with two writings 1. frozencpu.com and 2. World's Largest ..... | |

That is truly bitchin', but I was wondering, is the background white or transparent?

| Apex Techie II | It is white, i am not sure how to put it transparent, but I think it would be better if I leave it like this. I am going to add more to it today. ![]() Edit: Ok, I worked on it and I am almost done. I will be done when I fix all the problems that you guys might find. If there is none, then it's my final. (maybe) For now I could only get it 79.9kbs, but hopefully that isn't that bad. Good luck guys. Last edited by peti1212; 10-July-07 at 10:48 PM. | |
