Post Nexus PHT-3600 P4 Heatsink Review

BigAkita has a new revirew up on the Nexus PHT-3600 P4 Heatsink. This heatsink is designed for silent operation. But how does it perform?

Check out the review.

Nice Review, BA.

I don't know if it is just me, but I was unable to view the temperature bar graph. It would just partially show the top of the graph then stop.

"You can see in the close up shot that the fins were cut at an angle and bent vertical."

i wonder why they did that, the design is shure different then most sinks

also i found a spelling error you might wanna fix
"The heatsink is 45.2mm high X 65mm wide X 75.8mm deep, a pretty small **footpring** by today's standards"

Anything worse than a stock heatsink has got to suck, and this happens to be one of them. Nice interesting desing, and if it was worked on and had some copper on it, with a more powerful TMD 70mm fan, or a 80to70 or 80to60mm fan conveter thingy on it, then it would actually be quite a decent heatsink, until then, its just a waste of aluminum.

The time spent doing this may not be worth it, but it'd be nice to see how it performs with a GOOD fan instead of a crappy one.

I won't revisit this product because this is what Joe Consumer will receive. Granted, Joe Consumer will most likely not be looking for performance heatsinks, and may be looking for a quiet solution, but even as a quiet solution I do not recommend this product.

I will always call it as I see it regardless of ad dollars or sponsorship. GlitterKill knows that and supports my position.

I think that this heatsink could actually be a performer with a decent fan on it, but that ain't the way it's packaged. It is targeted towards the silent PC crowd; not the performance crowd. We would end up melting it down.

maybe you could modify it somehow and have a little fun with such a dud product. I mean, might as well learn something while you have it sitting around.

Still almost NO heatsinks these days use pure Aluminum, it just isn't good enough. Copper base with aluminum fins is good, but pure Aluminum is just crap in my world.

Tiz, a good review takes 5 to 10 days to complete if you have a normal life. All work must be done outside of the family/job arena and usually takes away any free time you have. The Pic's take a lot of time to get right, the testing can involve a couple of days, and the rewrites on the article take a few more. And usually there is one or more other items waiting for you to review. In order to keep the sponsorship, the reviews HAVE to be done on a timeline.

I do take breaks from reviewing and get on the forum, but when I'm not on the forum I'm back on the item. Therefore, there is little time to complete the "what-if" stuff. Eventually I may throw a TMD fan on the heatsink and see what it can do, but that would is in the "Wish I Could" category right now.

Thanks for the spelling catch, John. Foe, we are trying to figure out why the pic won't load. I just may have to make a new one.
